Is anyone else totally fed up with walking?

Lighthearted question, I'm very lucky because I live in a lovely area with lots of countryside walks. However, despite this I'm fed up with walking. What shall we do today? Ooh let's go for a walk. Any plans for tomorrow? How about a walk. It's different routes but I am just sooo bored of them!

Yes very much so I have fallen over twice , once in the last lockdown ended up looking like I had done ten rounds with Mike Tyson and again a week ago tripped up after taking my eyes off the crappy pavements where I live. Ended up with bruised cheekbone and cut hands , not to mention embarrassing myself with lovely couple who helped me up and looked after me,
I have come to the conclusion I shouldn’t be allowed out ☹️ Seriously though I am now quite nervous about walking outside , I seem to fall down very easily.

I've been pretty good with a daily walk up until this week, but it's far too cold so I've just sat around at home, watching TV and staring at my phone......I did treat myself to a trip to the supermarket earlier Hmm

I've been walking at least twice a day for the past 8 years with my dog so this is no different really. I've always walked everywhere. I can't drive, so think nothing of walking into town etc. My dh is the driver and he'd always drive into town rather than walk. We are lucky here with several different walks close by, but I do sometimes wish I could just go and walk on the beach, or we could drive to the woods and walk there.

I would ordinarily agree with you but we've all been in the house fir nearly 3 weeks now due to covid and I am climbing the walls. I absolutely cannot wait to go for a walk once this never ending isolation is up!

I normally love walking but yes, bored now. Not so much the walking but also the tedious drawn out process of getting small DC ready to go out...gloves, coats, rainwear, gloves again because they've been removed, where are the welly socks, oh god the wellies are still damp...etc...

Then the endless dawdling of DS, and the mud and mess when we arrive home. It's exhausting.

I really, really miss swimming. I also miss running. The best time for me to go is early morning but the weather and dark have meant it's not something I feel comfortable doing.

Ah well. At least soon we will have sunshine on our walks to look forward to soon!

It’s the bloody weather which seriously isn’t helping.

Yes. Housing estate after housing estate. Some water, some woods. Wind flaying the skin off our faces today. Running is the same, but I just get a bit further. So sick of the same views.

@NCTDN I don't have a problem filling my days with my home and family. Lockdown life suits me very well.

Are you bored of daily walks, of just bored overall?

I love walking and I credit it with saving my mental health & helping me put my type 2 into remission, but I am so bored of the same local walks. I’ve given up trying to coax dcs out the moaning during the walk does my head in. I’m looking forward to been able to walk in the moors or dales someday hopefully soon.

I'm sick of walking too. I feel like I've walked grooves into the pavement between my house and the park.

It is still sub optimal, and it is still walking Grin but listening to a guided meditation on mindful walking whilst you're out can be nice? Still walking but changing your mindset whilst you do it! I've found this helpful (not as helpful as a night out would be, but helpful anyway).

Yes, taking ds out is awful. He's on the verge of tears the whole time cos it's cold. His nose was running today and he just let it cos he couldn't feel it.
He's not going to survive high school, is he?

I did feel like walking was so good for my mental health but now it's just driving me mental...

Normally I bloody love walking. But it's so bloody tedious at the moment. Two small DC's - gloves, hats, coats, wellies...then the rigmarole of taking it all of again. Getting trikes ready and kids strapped in (one kid with ASD who often refuses to walk). And right now it's bloody freezing, hails, raining, icy so we haven't bothered the last few days.

Yes! It's the layering the children before, and stripping them off after, it's the salt and grit from the frozen pavements all over the floor, it's the constant drying out of wellies, gloves, hats and scarves. It just want an easy afternoon activity doing something else!

Still loving it

One alone at 6.30ish, dark when I leave. Back an hour later. It’s so peaceful. I mix up my routes.

Afternoon with children. Nice quick blast before home to start on dinner.

The key is to mix up the routes

Out of curiosity- do you stay in all day? As in don’t leave the house once?

There are 4 or possibly 5 routes from our front door, as we're not allowed to drive anywhere. All the good walks involve an illegal drive of up to 20 minutes. Dh did walk for 4 hours today, which got him further, but with a mate, not the kids. Mind you, we cycled that bloody route so many times in the summer, I'm not sure I could cope!

As long as local, there is absolutely no issue with travelling to exercise.

So i drive to the wood. 2.5 miles away.

Honestly, no

Before COVID I never walked anywhere without a specific destination. Maybe a 15-20 minute journey at most.

I’m in my early 20s and pre-COVID never had the luxury to just go on an hour walk. I was inundated with work/uni and had an incredibly busy social life and genuinely had no time. In fact I think I’d feel a bit guilty for “wasting time” on a long walk when I could be doing something more productive or more fun in my free time.

So yeah, not sick of walks just yet. It’s nice having the chance to unwind and get to know myself almost! It’s the only way I get to see the majority of my friends now so it isn’t necessarily boring.

Jesus christ, chewingle, the houses opposite our park/ woods would have your number plate and be phoning 101 before you could put your handbrake on round here!
