In a good way!!

Just had some wonderful comments from my Y3 DS teacher and its made me feel very emotional.

He had not only acknowledged how hard my DC has worked but how much effort as a family we've put in (I also have a Y1, 3yo and WFH x3 days a week, DP works out of house, don't have all the tech etc)

It has been a slog and many not so happy tears have been shed but I'm feeling quite chuffed right now.

Happy half term to all the teachers who have bent over backwards to make this work (our teacher often marks the kids work at 7/8pm after a full day either online or at school) and happy half term to all the parents who have broken their backs trying to make this work. We do what we can and hopefully it is enough!!

Happy half term to all the TA's and support staff and everyone who has assisted this half term.

I still pray to God they are all back on the 8th March though Grin

My dc teacher did a really moving piece of writing about challenges etc

Ds thought it great, which he posted. It was all really sweet.

Same!DS1 is 9, we've just finished our 2nd (3rd?) full lockdown (not in UK).Round 1 (March-June) he could not cope with online lessons AT ALL.Absolute hysteria (he is on the spectrum and really missed the routine).

Second school closure from Dec to yesterday..he was a completely different kid.First online at 8am, tried his best to focus and did 99% of all his assignments.Such a great attitude. His teacher sent me a message to say how proud she was and how she really appreciated his respectful behaviour over Zoom.I cried GrinHe finally went back yesterday and he ran up to his teacher and they hugged (I know....covid..) and it was really special.

Not to toot my own horn, but I'm proud of myself too.I'm a single parent, working full time (from home until told otherwise) in a scarily intense corporate job and also have DS2 aged 4 who is a tornado. We did it Grin Despite many tears from all 3 of us.

Well done hard working at home and home schooling mums and dads! And thank you school and all staff for helping us all navigate these ongoing surreal and challenging times! It’s been a total whole school community effort and true to humanity and mindfulness - it’s only when things are seemingly overwhelming that you know who you can count on when the chips are down! The teachers (and other critical staff) as well as all pupils, their mums and dads like the front line health care professionals and all those critical key workers who risk medical dangers on an daily basis are to be throughly elevated with a big appreciation of support and virtual Civid safe hug! Nothing is impossible but without those who you can count on to support you - it would really be impossible!

We too had a massive mutual appreciation and thankful full end of term newsletter school head and individual teachers class report. Very uplifting on par with possibly war time fighting spirit and another world from all the doom and gloom as so common throughout MumsNet!
