Popping /Clicking sound coming from toddlers hip

Since about a month or two I have been hearing a popping/clicking sound coming from Dd's (3) hip. She also has a clicking sound coming from her shoulder area since she was about a year old but when they did an ultrasound scan on her shoulder at the time (we had to go to a&e for something else and they checked this as well) they didn't find anything wrong. I think since then I've discovered the sound comes from the back of the shoulder area. But this sound coming from her hip started about a month or two ago. I mysrlf used to have a popping sound coming from my hip since I was about 12, and the doctor just put it down to "maybe a lack of calcium." and asked me to take calcium supplements, which didn't do any good. I spoke to my gp a few days ago about dd and my gp said at this age its normal for them to have clicking hips and joints and as long as she walks okay I don't need to worry. As far as I can tell she walks okay but toddlers don't really walk like adults so I can't be sure. She, thankfully, doesn't seem to be having any difficulty in walking. Her legs seem the same length to me. Dd had a ultrasound scan when she was about 3 months for clicky hips and they said she was fine. I feel the gp may have said its all normal to avoid giving me a face to face appointment due to pandemic. I am constantly listening out for this sound and the sound is not always there either, but I sometines hear it a few times a day and sometimes hear it when dd tosses from one side to another in her sleep (dd and I bed share). Sometimes i might hear it just 1 or 2 a day as well. Please can anyone with experience advice if this is something I should be concerned about and chase up further with gp. They are not the easiest of GPS to deal with. Dh thinks clicking/popping sounds are normal in toddlers (but he's not sure either as this is our first). Please help.

As far as I know this isn't a regular thing for toddlers but don't quote me as I'm not a medic of any sort. I would want a proper assessment by a pediatrician doing for anything clicky. DS might be too young to diagnose a soft tissue condition such as ehlers danlos syndrome but I'd definitely get him checked . I have EDS and have some unstable joints which click - shoulder and sacro iliac joints as well as thumb and some fingers . If you had a similar thing then it could be something hereditary which EDS is. It could be absolutely nothing too but I don't think your GP can assess this over the phone as he needs someone to check his hip and shoulder out.

If you're a clicky person yourself, and she isn't in any obvious pain, and you've had tests, and the GP isn't concerned it may well just be one of those things. I often sound like Rice Krispies when I move. Always have. Always will. DP was absolutely horrified he might have hurt me not long after we first met when he gave me a hug. There was a grinding sound not unlike the opening of a tomb door in an Indiana Jones film. Obviously keep an eye on her but you can probably relax.

Thank you for replying.i do have a popping sound coming from one hip but it hasn't caused me any trouble (yet) . I am worried that this maybe something like 'Hip Dysplasia' or eds or something else. It's so frustrating when gp just dismisses me like that. Sorry, coming to think of it I think she was checked for clicky hipsshrn she was six weeks not three months. I have read online that Hip Dysplasia can start later than 6 weeks.

The sound coming from her hip is much louder than a rice crispy popping sound.

Just a little bump to see if anyone has any other advice or experience of hip popping sounds in toddlers being normal.

Absolutely normal in my case, I'm still very clicky now as an adult but no pain, no arthritis or anything - some of us just have loud joints!

Get her seen! If is DDH then it wants sorting out
