As the title says really!
Fish and chips in the car by the sea?

How far away is the sea?

Long journeys still a bad idea, and definitely look for places that are not likely to get crowded - so the fairly local 'hidden gem' that you don't usually go to (which might be a beach) but which is not likely to attract masses of visitors

2 mins!

Pancake day is Tuesday

Are there any geocaching things in your area - combine with a family walk and should be within rules if not too far a journey?

CatsAndDogsAndHorses · 11/02/2021 20:43

If the sea is two minutes away, why can’t you get fish and chips and go for a walk? Local walks are allowed, aren’t they?

Given that some poor woman was fined for taking her child 9 miles to the sea, there really is sod all you can travel to do.

Scavenger hunts? Gingerbread towns? Themed evenings with movies and meals.

Mine are younger (although I also have a teen adult child too), but hope our plans might give you some ideas. I have a blog post which lists lots of online activities here museummum.com/2021/02/09/february-half-term-2021-virtual-things-to-do-with-kids/.

Here's how our week is looking

  • Chinese New Year - cooking a special dinner, joining in with virtual crafting and celebrations
  • Valentine's Day - baking chocolate brownies
  • Pancake Day - making pancakes
  • Making fossiled poo replica with Yorvik
  • Trying to photograph every mural in our local area (ongoing project, we will make a Google map of them and are researching the artist and where else you can find their work)
  • Visiting every playground in our local area (discovered a great BMX track doing this!)
  • Finding every blue plaque in our local area (ongoing project)
  • Watching every Disney animated film in order (we've done all the Star Wars and Mandolorian already)
  • drawing workshops
  • Trying every hot chocolate in our local area (not in one day or week, it's an ongoing project!)
  • board games

I’ve invested in board games. We’ve learned Azul this week and saving Catan for the weekend. We play The Logo Game and Trivial Pursuits over Zoom with grandparents. We all play, DH and I have a glass of wine, if it’s a Friday or Saturday DS (15) is allowed a shandy or a cider.

Some good ideas thanks.

Batinahat · 11/02/2021 21:27

Escape game in a box?

NellietheNumpty · 11/02/2021 21:27

How about indoor camping.
