Hysterectomy- best thing/worst thing?

I’ve got adenomyosis, and have been told I need a hysterectomy.
I have my kids and I am 46, so all fine on that score.
I’ve been managing the pain fairly well, and I’m wondering if I can try and reduce it with diet etc..
My question is, if you had a hysterectomy, would you say it was good thing? I already had major surgery for fibroids last June, and a polypectomy in October.
Also, I have the option of keeping ovaries and cervix.
I’m worried mainly about surgical menopause, although I’ll go on hrt, losing my libido and putting on weight.
Any advice would be greatLy appreciated

The women I know who have had them between 32 and 54 have all said it was a relief to be free of symptoms at last (all had them for different reasons, but all were glad it was finally done).

I had a hysterectomy almost two years ago at the age of 36 due to adenomyosis. I'd had endometrial ablation 14 months prior to that which stopped the bleeding but increased the pain and blood was pooling in my uterus. I can honestly say I feel so much better now, had my uterus, tubes (where they found endometriosis) and cervix removed but kept ovaries. It was a lap-assisted vaginal hysterectomy and I had a really good recovery, came home the next day and no issues. Good luck!

really appreciating this thread as it's looking increasingly likely i will need an operation to deal with fibroids causing urinary symptoms too, and i have huge anxiety around surgery.

Nearly 4 weeks post op. It was done keyhole.
I feel a million times better already. Back walking the dog, and relatively normal (obv being careful and not lifting etc)
Very happy I had it done.
