What’s the best supermarket delivery service?

It’s that time of year where I have to renew my annual Tesco delivery pass, and like every year, I’m wondering if I might be better off switching supermarkets. Googling for comparisons just brings up information about who’s the cheapest, but what about reliability? Do Morrisons replace veggie sausages with pork ones? Does Asda regularly deliver late or leave out half the order? Are the joys of Waitrose products worth the extra £10+ a week? Has it been impossible to get a home delivery slot for your supermarket for weeks now? Inquiring minds need to know.

I use Waitrose and have had no substitutions for my last 10 shops. I did have a couple of weeks where they didn’t have the particular brand of chips I wanted but it was a national shortage so we just did without.

We find Tesco the best. I use Ocado occasionally but slots are like hens teeth. Sainsbury here isn't great. I've done click and collect with Morrisons a few times and thats been good, but I don't like Morrisons food as much as Tesco.

I do think that using the notes facility is really important. For example, our standard milk order is 2 litres of organic semi skimmed. If that's not available, the algorithm tells the picker to choose full fat organic milk whereas I would choose semi skimmed non organic. So there's a note against my order to say that.

You really can't beat tesco imo

Initially I started with Iceland - impressed by their fresh meat (and I'd thought they were only a freezer shop), and cos I'm alone their 30.00 + free delivery service was a bonus. BUT, no wine boxes, and I use a lot, both for cooking and drinking, so I switched to Morrisons and I've been with them ever since. They're great! Not bought a delivery pass, cos I've a large fridge freezer & loads of cupboard space, deliveries are to time, etc. Order from them about every 3-4 weeks.
Works for me.
I looked at S'burys but I used the price of fresh chillis as a benchmark (I used a LOT of chillis) - was 50p for a pack of 4-5, 1.50 for similar pack from S'burys....no contest.
They will take bags back next delivery, but I use them to put kitchen waste in and the bag then goes in the bin outside.

I much prefer Tesco to Ocado.

Started with Asda during lockdown 1 as they were the only one I could get a slot with and have consistently used them since then. Never had any problems - subs are never weird, they always turn up, drivers are super friendly and helpful. They're also really good at issuing refunds.

Years ago I used to use Tesco and they were the worst. Would never go back to them. They used to not turn up regularly and give me excuses like the van had broken down - the drivers would tell me the truth!

I use to use Ocado but gave up trying to get a delivery slot during lockdown 1. Switched to ASDA. It was a great move. Saves me a fortune, they've never cancelled and their substitutes are sensible and in some cases better! ...& click & collect is great if you need things next day but I presume this is area dependant.
