Anyone with washing machine/plumbing knowledge?

Our washing machine has been limping along for a while but has now totally died.
The problem is that it’s died while full of water and clothes! I could catch the water in a bucket but the door won’t open while it’s full.

I’ve tried running it on different settings and the drain one but nothing works. I’ve got a new one coming tomorrow and they’re meant to be taking the old one but can’t while it’s full of clothes!
Any bright ideas?

It’s a Bosch if that helps

Do you have a filter you can access at the front? You can drain it out through that

BadlydoneHelen · 09/02/2021 17:29

Mine does this if the drain hose at the back gets a kink in it- has to be pulled forward and straightened out then restarted

Do you have anything strong enough to lever the door open?

SEE123 · 09/02/2021 17:31

Do you have a little panel on the front OP? There should be a drainage line there. If you google the user manual, it usually has instructions on how to do this

Don't pry it open :)

Yes I’ve emptied the filter at the front and while a lot of water came out of it, the level inside the machine didn’t seem to move at all.

I’ll get DP to have a go at moving it when he gets home. I did try earlier but it’s so heavy!

I did try the drainage option but it just makes a weird noise and burning smell! And doesn’t actually do anything

I agree that there is usually a drain point for exactly this problem.

If you google the make & model you should find the instruction manual online if you've lost it.

If you google there may also be YouTube videos of people sorting the same problem.

Sometimes you can drain them by pulling the drain hose right down to ground level

It could be a kink in the drain pipe. If you can pull the washer forward you could unkink it and then spin to drain.

Thank you everyone! I found the emergency switch to get the door open (and promptly flooded the kitchen) but clothes and water are now free Smile
