Anyone about who knows about diy bath bomb making?

Dd2 was given a bath bomb making kit, from The Works, for Christmas. It's missing the "bath bomb mix" but has two bags of baking soda.

I wondered if anyone had any idea what I could order, to replace the "bath bomb mix", so we can use the kit over half term week?

I've attached a pic of the ingredients listed on the box but not entirely sure what to search ebay for.

Tia :)

I think it will be cornstartch.

LizBennet · 09/02/2021 11:01

Or cornstarch even 🙄

You will need baking soda, citric acid and cornstarch to make the bath bomb. Usually 2 parts baking soda to 1 part citric acid and one part cornstarch.

Mix them very well.

Much appreciated, thank you both. I have cornstarch in the pantry so will have a look for citric acid now, before I go to work. Hopefully it'll arrive before the end of next week!

@lucysmam I'm just really grateful you added the word "bath" to your title-heading!Grin

Haha Grin that made me laugh.

It's not quite that bad yet @PainterInPeril.

I totally missed ‘Bath’ on first glance and did a massive double take Grin

I've bought Citric acid on Amazon before.

Ineedideas · 09/02/2021 16:23

Citric acid and bicarbonate of soda are both available on Amazon, you need quite a bit so worth getting a 1kg bag.
Essential oils are nice to add, and cosmetic/biodegradable glitter can be fun too. Also you could add liquid cosmetic colour, to tint your water a little (make sure it’s cosmetic so that it won’t harm the tub). If you want them to be more grown up maybe some dried flower petals?

Wilko's does citric acid, or at least they used to.

lucysmam · 09/02/2021 19:55

@Ineedideas thanks for the other suggestions. I'll have a look with dd tomorrow and see if she fancies any other bits to add/try out.

Was also going to suggest wilko as they do small (cheap) box of citric acid.

I add a tiny bit of coconut oil to mine.

Half a cup citric acid
Half a cup, or just under cornstarch
1 cup bicarb

I'm not sure if Nanna's going to town this week for her shopping. If she is, I could ask her to pop into Wilko's for me. I don't need anything though so was going to order online.
