How should I handle this?

Ok will keep this brief...

My LL issued a notice to leave 28th Aug with effect from 1st Sept giving me 2 months notice to leave (1st Nov).

I replied stating that, under new covid laws, this was an invalid notice and that the revised notice period was 6 months.

She checked with her solicitor who confirmed this and issued a new notice at the end of Sept with notice beginning 1st Oct for 6 months.

She came to do an inspection last weekend, when I also allowed estate agents in- she's selling the place.

But she told me she wanted me out by 28th Feb and has booked contractors to begin doing work on the place from 1st March before it goes on the market.

I pointed out that the notice period isnt up until 1st April but she insisted it was the last day of Feb and wouldn't hear any more of it.

She has taken it as 6 months from the date of the initial (invalid) notice rather than the date of the new notice. She's treated it as an 'amendment' to the notice rather than issuing a new notice.

She's pushing me for a time when she can come round on 28th and pick up the keys. I am looking but, due to the time of year and covid, there is very little on the market. It is beginning to pick up but there is little currently and most availability dates are coming up in March.

I know that the law is on my side in this but I I don't want things to get unpleasant. Just wanted some moral support really.

She sounds awful. Stay put until you've found somewhere to go. She can go to court to evict you which could take some time just now

Do you have the notice with the correct date on it?

Don't leave early. Could you contact shelter for advice? And your local council?
