Snowing again......😭

Dh and l went for one of our exciting walks yesterday. ‘Feels like’ temperature of -9.

Everywhere all Autumn has been one huge mass of mud. Random new ponds appearing complete with ducks.

Ice, snow, slippy underfoot nearly all the time. AND lockdown😢.

Anyone else?

I'm praying for more snow!
I'm a TA and have been manning a keyworker group in school since the beginning of term. Today I got a snow day at home with my DC as both their schools (inc mine) were shut. I appreciate that the novelty of this has worn off for lots of people!

I had to homeschool my kids, followed by a couple of walks and a sledge ride before they get too big for me to pull. And I enjoyed the novelty of seeing all the little ones online. The teacher had warned me it was tricky 😁....

Jane, Jane please put yourself on mute. Mute, yes that's it dear, I'll hear all about your mum giving you a haircut in a minute... Let's try to do the register.. Oh Johnny that's a lovely cat you have there, at least I think it's a cat. It's very close to your camera. Perhaps you could put it down just for a second whilst I do the... Cuthbert, Cuthbert, where did you go? Oh, you've fallen off your chair. Ok sweetie. Good morning Cuthbert. Yes Cheerios are nice for breakfast. Now, Beatrice...
(Names clearly changed!)

Makes me very please mine aren't 4&5 anymore 😂.

Walking a dog that's an absolute mud magnet, slip sliding on muddy paths, all my dog walking clothes covered in mud, the boot covered in mud, trying to get her mud free before she dives on the sofa or a bed....

I feel like lockdown has really amplified my hate for cold and wet weather. Don't think I would ever go for a walk in the winter previously.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 08/02/2021 17:14

I’m sorry you’ve got Covid😢

This is our 4th dollop since Christmas. I don’t want to throw it around. I want to throw it away.

Snow is nice for about the first couple of hours when it is fresh and you can walk in new snow. Then it either becomes slush, or icy, or inconsistent. Then you have the fact that about half of those driving in it have not a clue and should have avoided the journey they are making or postponed it.

Fortunately we don't get much of it in many parts of the UK.

Bearnecessity · 08/02/2021 18:26

We got our first snow today and that’s made all the difference! I actually went out for a walk willingly to enjoy walking along with fat flakes falling softly around me, and the kids played in it, and everywhere looked nice under the streetlights as it started to get dark. And it was DIFFERENT.

Tomorrow I’ll be sick of it I’m sure. But it was amazing not to walk through mud.

Blubell281 · 08/02/2021 19:30

I was trudging through a field yesterday with doggo, the mud was horrible, deep, thick, squelching and I had one of those weird brain foggy/farty moments staring at it thinking what is it? What is mud? The more I looked at it the weirder the mud got, I'd never really thought about mud before and then the word mud got weird. I stuck to the streets today.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 08/02/2021 19:34

It’s so weird isn’t it - usually winter is warm and wet this year we’re on our fourth lot of snow!

speaksofty · 08/02/2021 19:41

I love the snow, it looks so beautiful - and the kids are having so much fun. I am feeling slightly more claustrophobic than before strangely.

Is this what is is like living in rural Sweden in the winter?!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 08/02/2021 19:48

Winter isn’t usually warm and wet round here. We always get snow and it’s always cold.

Yeah what is mud? Soil and water? Why does it breed so much like some sort of evil spawn. It’s everywhere!

We've got really annoying snow here.

It's swirling around and a teeny amount is settling on the ground. But not enough to play in. Just enough to make it even more difficult to walk anywhere and make it even more Baltic than it already was.

It's just taunting the DC - they have been well up for it since the last fall a couple
of weeks back. Looks like this is all we're getting for the whole bloody week.

Magpiecomplex · 08/02/2021 21:28

@DinosApple Have you ever heard the Joyce Grenfell monologue about small children? George, don't do that... I think you'd find it quite familiar!

borntohula · 08/02/2021 21:33

@AfterSchoolWorry

Screaming into the void here tip too.

Crumbs on the floor, crumbs on the counter, I feel like all I do is sweep and wipe crumbs into the bin. Yet everywhere I walk crunch, crunch. Angry

Extremely relatable.
ureterr1blemuriel · 08/02/2021 21:36

Yes, so over the bloody mud. They said on BBC weather the other day that it’s been the wettest Dec to January period for over 100 years in our area!! Yes a fucking hundred years! I live in a village with lots of public footpaths but they’ve been mud baths since November as walking locally is the only thing we’re all allowed to do.

enjoyingscience · 08/02/2021 21:36

Mud and work. That’s all this lockdown is. I’m so, so sick of the dark, cold, gloomy misery of it.

Makes me realise how lucky we had it in April last year.

CazY777 · 08/02/2021 21:38

We've had snow on the ground everyday (apart from about 2 days) since Christmas Eve. Well and truly sick of it now!

Bollss · 08/02/2021 21:42

We've had snow 4 times in as many weeks and again today. It can fuck the fuck off now. School closed for two days because of it. That school has not previously closed in the entire time I have lived here for snow.

Literallynoidea · 08/02/2021 21:43

Yep sick of it. Dark, cold, miserable.

User237tyre · 08/02/2021 21:44

Snow was very welcome in Christmas holidays. Now we’ve just got freezing sleet.

Mud and crumbs pretty much sums up my life at the moment.

Labobo · 08/02/2021 21:55

I am so sick of mud. It makes me dread walking when usually I love it. We have loads of stunning walks on our doorstep which I've really appreciated during lockdown but recently we've avoided most of them to walk in the streets as the mud and puddles are ankle deep on every single path. All my shoes are caked with mud, just from going to the shops or putting out the bins as we don't have proper pavements, just grass verges which are pure churned mud now.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 08/02/2021 22:01

I am jealous of your snow. We've not had any at all and it would be a welcome change!
