Can you close the vents in the window?

Sorry might sound like a silly question but I'm not sure.

So there are vents in two of our windows in our bedroom. It's -1 at the moment and windy and the bedroom although the heating has been on is a bit chilly. We have our 1 year old in the room with us so don't want him to get chilly whilst sleeping. Is it okay to close them? I'm not sure if it is okay or if they need to be open? If they can be closed I'll re open in the morning.

Probably a stupid question but I really don't know. TIA!

Of course you can (so long as you don't have an ancient back boiler). Only the newest of our windows even have them.

I do in my flat. They are just holes in the window frame so it’s like having the window open with all cold and all the noise. Can’t sleep with them open. I have the window open at various points in the day so no problem on that front.

Oh okay! Thank you so much. All our windows have them I just wasn't sure if I could close the bedroom ones. Thank you for the reassurance Smile.

Yep! Mine are filled up with silicone. Fine to shut them for one night, if you have any condensation in the morning just wipe down or crack open window

Thank you! Smile
