Films / TV shows that scared you as a child

Is it me or are things aimed at 'kids' actually quite disturbing... I mean seriously, there were some things that kept me up at night or made me feel physically sick.

I was a 90s kid and a few things stick in my mind...

The oriental night fish. If you know, you know. Who on Earth thought it was a good idea to put this on a children's video after Rupert bear and the frogs???

The Prince of Egypt. The scene where the babies are thrown to the crocodiles. I saw this when I was about 8 and it made me feel nauseous. To this day, I would never watch it again.

Courage the Cowardly Dog. 'Return the slab'...

So any stick in your mind? I'm sure more will come to me...

Everything about Return to Oz was horrifying. The pumpkin head man, the wheelers, the room full of heads.

I remember being very scared of the Never Ending Story. The big black wolf was terrifying. There was also a scene where the boy has to pass through some statues without being lasered to dust...for some reason that scene particularly scared me.

Also found Labyrinth quite scary in parts 😁

@KeeOe Oh yes Howard’s Way. To be fair those leisure suits were quite terrifying as well.
I’ve seen bits of Maelstrom on YouTube and it still freaks me out!

Dr Who terrified me . I was a child in the 1960s and I still remember the Daleks. Apparently I had nightmares most Saturday nights .

Oh my goodness, My grandma let me watch an old black & white film with her , Baby Jane , She cooked a parrot in the oven & then a rat ! I was about 6 years old & much to my parents annoyance I wouldn’t eat ANYTHING that had been cooked in the oven for ages after . I couldn’t say why because grandma would be in trouble.

Minnie6078 · 07/02/2021 22:29
