What is MNs ideal, perfectly nutritional and balanced meal?

MN is a bit harsh about people's meals choices.
Just say someone said, we had lasagne and garlic bread. People jump on and say things like "double carbs?? Shocking!!"

Or if you say you had a smoothie and some toast for breakfast, a fair amount would go "a smoothie? You may as well just eat a tablespoon of sugar and wash it down with syrup" Shock

You get the gist. Grin

So what's a "perfect" meal?

:)

On MN?

A plate of vegetables with some humous. Perhaps some nuts as well.
Fruit (berries only because of carbs)
A small square of very expensive high-cocoa chocolate.
😆

Any meal that's made using the classic "mumsnet chicken"

sadpapercourtesan · 06/02/2021 20:02

A waft of delicate aroma from a single rocket leaf, with a drizzle of good olive oil.

bonfireheart · 06/02/2021 20:03

Still haven't recovered from when I asked what DD could take to school for lunch, some of the things that other MN children seem to eat WOW!

and the MN "chicken" sounds rank.

bellropes · 06/02/2021 20:07

Lentils I think. With vegetables and a drink of tap water.

Do you actually need the rocket leaf?

A “massive salad” Grin

Weird Shit
I'm being serious sometimes I've never heard of the shit some people eat on here.

Sometimes at lunchtime, I've been known to give dd a jam piece on thick white bread or a roll n sausage followed by a chocolate doughnut.

Bluemooninmyeyes1 · 06/02/2021 20:16

A ‘massive salad’ or anything ‘bulked out with lentils’ Grin

But Fruit is just sugar.... Grin

A huge pile of stir fried vegetables with a red chilli’s, a squeeze of lime and grilled salmon responsibly sourced by a local fisherman.

sadpapercourtesan · 06/02/2021 20:17

Oh @ParkheadParadise why don't you love your dd? A chocolate doughnut...

Maskedcrusader · 06/02/2021 20:21

Two puffs of mountain air and a sprinkle of moon dust. Everyone I know has this, even the toddlers.

AuntieStella · 06/02/2021 20:22

Prosecco, olives, marinated feta cubes and pretzels

NoSquirrels · 06/02/2021 20:22

A chicken noodle soup (made with homemade stock from the bones of the (free-range organic) MN chicken) with shredded leftover meat and seasonal veg and herbs grown on your windowsill. Strictly no bread (you had noodles!)

Water to drink, perhaps with a squeeze of lemon juice.

An apple (whole) if you’re absolutely starving afterwards.

NoSquirrels · 06/02/2021 20:23

@AuntieStella

Prosecco, olives, marinated feta cubes and pretzels
Oh now I want to eat this! With marinated artichokes and tiny fresh anchovies.
DragonPoop · 06/02/2021 20:40

Ok so I don’t pretend it’s perfectly balanced nutrition wise - BUT it’s the healthiest meal (in my opinion) that my 3 year old DS will happily wolf down.
Tuna rice salad:
Can of tuna steak - drained obviously,
Rice (can be brown if you’re feeling virtuous)
A tablespoon of light mayo,
Any veg that’s in the fridge/ freezer (tomatoes, cucumber, peas, sweetcorn, grated carrot, radishes, spring onion, frozen brocoli etc - anything works really and the more the merrier)
Stir it all together, and it’s lovely when the rice is warm or it’s equally nice cold from the fridge/ in lunchboxes etc.

bonfireheart · 06/02/2021 20:48

Rice = carbs.
Sorry, please try again.

wellthatsunusual · 06/02/2021 20:53

On Mumsnet nothing will pass the test. Absolutely nothing.

Even a rocket leaf is sheer gluttony here.

HexWitch · 06/02/2021 20:55

On MN? Probably a big leafy green salad with some feta, olives and walnuts.

ThatsnotmyBorishishairistoneat · 06/02/2021 20:55

A chicken that makes a weeks worth of mealsWink

bonfireheart · 06/02/2021 20:56

5:2 diet, intermittent fasting 16:8, low carb, no sugar diet.

Ithinkhedidit · 06/02/2021 20:58

A glass of water. Don't even think about food! Perhaps a small tumbler of gin once a year on your birthday OR a tot of sherry on Christmas day. Not both - that would make you an alcoholic.

DittyPL · 06/02/2021 21:00

Beans on toast with cheese.

Bread (carbs)
Beans (protein)
Cheese (dairy)

Honestly the most balanced meal one could have.

DittyPL · 06/02/2021 21:01

Beans also one of your 5 a day! See, perfect.
