South East Asia in July and August - weather

I used to live in SE Asia but I can’t remember how rainy it was in July and August...day dreaming about holidays...!

Has anyone done a holiday there in that time and what was weather like? Am thinking of Thailand and Cambodia (Siem Reap).

I lived in Bangkok for a year but cannot recall either! I recall it was always warm and often rainy.

But, - I hope you get there for your holiday. I hope we ALL get to our holidays this year!! (Cyprus for us fingers crossed).

That would def be heading towards the rainy season in Vietnam (usually July-sept) and it would be boiling hot.

I went to Thailand in rainy season. I think August. Didnt stop us doing sightseeing but needed rain coats. Some days were fine but occasionally it would absolutely pour down! We also got trapped in Chiang Mai for a few extra days due to flooding but that was fine for us as we liked the place. I wouldn't have wanted to be lying on a beach much if that's your thing.

Oh I forgot to say, I think the rain wasnt very predictable. I also went to Mexico in rain season (poor planning/only opportunity) and it just rained around 5pm every day bar one or two days so we just went to a bar then and enjoyed watching it. Thailand rained anytime. However I am not 100% sure my one time study is a factual representation or just my limited memories.

It is Monsoon season in SE Asia in August. Very hot and wet.

Those areas will be at their hottest and wettest then, but the rainfall in tropical areas usually occurs as a predictable downpour in the afternoon, with the rest of the day ok. It’s a matter of preference - if you are ok with hot and humid you should be fine.

Shorter daylight hours too. Gosh I want to go on holiday.
