If your local council has fixed a vandalism issue, then how?

At the top of my road is a footbridge across the railway, which I have to cross most days for shopping/ walking/ reaching the high street.

The footbridge is heavily vandalised on a daily basis. Since October the bridge graffiti has been painted over (just in blocks of a random colour) at least twice, plus one complete repainting in baby blue. The blue of course wasn't the most appropriate colour, and was almost immediately graffitied over again, and white splodges now barely cover that up.

There have been several fly tipping incidents and now an arson, with someone having pulled one of the public bins up the stairs and set it alight. It is now melted all over the pavement.

This behaviour has definitely worsened since lockdown. Before COVID it was a bit gross but the biggest issues were litter and people using the alleyway as a toilet, but none of these had such a lasting impact.

Clearly the council are aware as they keep repainting the bridge. I want to write to my local councillors to press the issue as I am really sick of how bad the situation has become.

Has your local council successfully tackled this kind of issue and made the problem go away? Did they use cameras, special paint, litter patrols etc? I'd appreciate some information so I can push for something better to be done. Thanks!
