Doing up garden for 2 year old to play. What can I put on side of shed?

Just moved house and I want to get the garden ready for my 2 year old, before new baby comes. Hoping 2 year old can entertain himself around the garden on days when I can't be bothered to drag us all in the car to the park.

I've planned for a blackboard on another wall and will get a mud kitchen and probably a slide/ climbing frame.

It's only a small garden and I'd like to put something engaging / interactive on the side the shed - but I'm not very imaginative! Drawing a blank with what to Google for ideas too.

Cheap DIY preferred, but could spend a bit more on something ready made if it looked good.

Any ideas?

Pipes to make a tennis ball sized marble run?

Look up busy boards, those would work well.

Something like a car dashboard and windscreen with a wheel to turn, buttons, levers, mirror etc.

Busy boards are good, also could you put bug houses, bird houses, hanging baskets etc up as well? Most of the smaller children in my family love messing in dirt and going on bug hunts, it would engage them to learn as well :)

Chalk
board. Big chunky chalks.
And a small basketball hoop.

Favourite outdoor things here have been:

Water butt (if you can find a way to fit one on your shed?) + bucket, plus a few lengths of old guttering (we were going to attach to a wall to make a water wall but actually they were better loose as they could move them around). We had a busy board which I made for inside, but they got bored with it pretty quickly.
Little wheelbarrow, useful for mud pies
Cleaning stuff, spray bottles, brushes and some old cloths (we just had them on pegs next to the wall so they could help themselves)
Chalk
In winter I leave out trays to fill with water and freeze overnight when it's cold enough. Then we go out with hammers and a manual hand drill (obviously with supervision) and destroy the ice. Hours of fun - and quite cathartic too Grin

They have spent hours chalking on the path and then washing it clean again. It's amazing how much entertainment water, a bucket and a brush can give!

A steering wheel on a stick?

The equivalent of a busy board? DD is three now and still loves the selection of locks/dials/switches etc - £20 from b&q - that I glued onto chipboard when she was a year old.

a kitchen to make things with plants, mud and water

Agree with the pipes, it can be a ball run or a water wall.
Have a look on pinterest for ideas.
