Tiny shower room remodelling - please share pictures/ideas if you've done it

We have the tiniest shower room (see image) and would like to give it a bit of a revamp. It is very small but has a very high ceiling, and no window.

The shower walls are tiled (white with a very thin blue border), the rest of the walls are tiled to shoulder height (same tiles as the shower). The rest of the wall are is magnolia and the ceiling (which is very high - we are talking 3/3.5 metres at least) is white. There are sunken spotlights for lighting, and a mirror above the sink.

Storage is one shelf on the wall above the toilet.

This shower room is an en-suite and rarely used but I'd really like to change it (it's been this way since we bought the house 20 years ago). I'd like to try a bold colour on the walls as that'd be cheap to do in terms of paint and easy to change. But I don't want to have to repaint it ten times because I picked the wrong colour. I'm not afraid to try something dark or even wallpaper on the toilet wall.

If I go online and look for ideas none of the shower rooms I find are as small as mine. So I was hoping someone here has a similar-size shower room and wouldn't mind sharing pictures or thoughts. Thank you.

Do you have to have the loo and sink in there? Removal would make it a larger space. If you do want them though, I'd opt for a floating sink and loo, so that you can see more of the floor, which always makes a space look bigger. I'd also install a huge flat wall mirror to open it up. No dark colours. White tiles. Make sure the door to the shower is a sliding door, rather than one which opens into the room. No pics, just previous experience.

Yes, we want to keep the sink and the loo there for when we have guests. It's small but that way they have their own toilet and washing facilities. Seeing the floor isn't an issue tbh because the area is so small when you step in you just see yourself in the mirror - you never really 'see' the floor unless you're looking down. There is a mirror already above the sink - a large, frameless one that's screwed into the wall.

The shower door slides and opens inside, to the side. I have always gone for light colours in small rooms but my hairdresser for example, has a small WC with sink (and a window) and the walls are black and I love it. But it's probably the same size as mine but doesn't have a shower in there.

Depending on your physical characteristics.....(sorry no nice way of saying how big your bum is 🤣) id go for a slimline space saver off the floor back to the wall toilet (this makes room looks larger without the pedestal bit). I'd also have a much smaller handwash basin (also back to wall and off floor) - you really don't need a big one that would sit next To the toilet on the right hand wall. Shelves/cabinet above

then move the rad along the wall a bit next to the shower

Id have nice tiles full Height in the shower and 1/2 height behind the wc/basin and leave everything else painted

Wouldn't do wallpaper as no window in there so it will just peel off with the condensation

For similar size rooms look at how people have decorated their cloakrooms.

I have a small shower room (now a wet room) which had a very high ceiling and when we renovated we put in a false ceiling and it feels much better, less like being in a phone box. We also have high level storage above door frame height which is super useful and doesn't waste any floor space.

You can get toilets that have the basin incorporated into the cistern above. Then you can have a nice standing space as you enter with either floating shelves or a corner cupboard opposite the toilet for some storage?

Personally I also would t want to have to reach across both toilet and basin to reach my towel that is presumably over the radiator?

Could you make it more a wet room by raising the floor ( I know you would have a step up and the floor would have to drain and not flood over the step

Having the whole floor area tiled the same and wall hanging toilet and basin will make it look less cluttered
