Does anyone here make scented candles?

I have tried making scented candles using soy wax and essential oils (specifically for candle making) but even though I used more oil than recommended once I burnt the candle, there was no smell.

Does anyone have any recommendations for candle-making oils that actually throw? Thank you.

I make wax melts, if you follow the recommended quantities of scent then it might be because you have to leave them to 'cure' a few days and the scent reappears.
Some scents seem stronger than others though; which companies scent are you using?

Are you leaving the wax to cool sufficiently to add the oil (but not too much) ?

I don't recall the brands but I tried a few (some which I bought in the US) and never had any luck. No, I didn't let the wax cool down. Could that be why?

And does anyone have any links to oils I could buy and try please?

I think there is a certain optimum temp for adding the oils, but I can't remember offhand what it is. I always used a cooking thermometer to check.

I just used to buy good essential oils, from H & B. Didn't have special 'candle' ones.

We re melted all the spare bits of wax and dh made some wicks which worked brilliantly but I added the oils when hot
And yes they were disappointing smell wise.
Next time I’ll try when cooler.

I have had a few attempts at candle making, and as I understand it different scents have different flash points, so if wax is above flash point of scent when added you lose some of the scent.

I think @LaurieFairyCake used to make candles, so she may have some more advice.

I make wax melts, I melt soy wax in the microwave, add colour, then you have to wait until it cools down to 60 -85 degrees, then pour in the scent.
You can buy scent for candles, it depends if you are making for sale, or just for yourself, but wholesale 'Supplies for candles' do a good range of scents.
Trade Essential Oils do a cheaper range, they do a good Chocolate orange vanilla and Oud Royal.
I have just used Soy wax but I've heard that paraffin based waxes have a more powerful smell, soy is trickier.
Tutorials are on You tube, there's one by
EdensSecret1 that is good.

Thank you @Xoxoxoxoxoxox

Is that Fahrenheit or Celsius? The candles I'd make would be just for me,. If they were nice and smelt good I may give some to friends and family. I will order some oils from that website you mentioned and give them a go. Thank you.

Join one of the many UK candlemakers groups on facebook. They will guide and help you. They will expect you to do a bit of research yourself though and not be spoon fed.
There's quite a science to making a good candle which takes time to learn.
Ignore advice from wax melt makers as they don't have a clue about candles. All they do is melt a bit of wax and add some fragrance.
