You are getting much more angry than usual mummy

Ahhh the words, they cut you.

But you know what I am angry!!

I was never meant to spend this much time with anyone. I feel completely trapped. I am so bored. I don't even know what would make me feel better.

I have created a school at home, with lessons and walks and fun activities, completed courses, made dolls, knitted scarves, learnt editing, created films that people have actually watched, gone on online seminars with interesting people, worked really hard, kept the house together, planned all the meals, lost weight, exercised, meditated, read books, sent letters to people to let them know they are loved....

I have tried to make the best of it...

and I am so angry, and peace-less and joyless and I am so fed up and I can't see an end to it...

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to stop this funk?

It's just shit isn't it? DS asked me earlier if I actually like looking after him! I felt bloody awful! Crafting, baking, walking, reading are all lovely but it's basically all we've been able to do for a year and I'm sick of it all. And I'm sick of never being alone, yet I feel so incredibly lonely.

Two primary here
First lockdown - awful

Second - so so much better. Down to the school provision mainly

But beyond that.... I can’t see how anyone can’t be optimistic given the vaccine?

Hagotcha80 · 04/02/2021 17:23

@merrygoround88

I would suggest some alone time. The only way I can get it is a walk in the dark in the mornings but I’ll take what I can get
Ditto Single parent I’m out at 6, back at 7 I come back so rejuvenated

Its perhaps more essential that you come through this pandemic in one piece and not totally burnt out and broken. It is a marathon not a sprint. One or two activities a week (or none at all) time to relax and be on your own every day, baths and netflix on your own.

I think quite rightly some people are very cautious about getting their hopes up, we don't know that the vaccines will definitely be effective against all of the many strains now circulating. I am feeling positive about the future, but I can understand those that know better than to compromise their mental health with yet more crushing disappointments, and are protecting themselves by preparing for the worst. We are a long way from the end of the lockdown, everyone will hit the wall at different times, and all situations are different.

Hagotcha80 · 04/02/2021 17:35

I agree
But not to see any end to it seems.... well, self-punishing

speaksofty · 04/02/2021 17:40

hagotcha I personally think the end of lockdown is coming (much) sooner than we think, but I can't say that to some of my friends because they are struggling so much. It would feel quite heartless. Everyone is different, and I respect those that find the constant moving of the goalposts and endless cycle of lockdowns extremely hard. I am glad you feel okay, but not everyone does, and I have noticed it seems to affect people at different times - and dependent on so many things.

Op self care all the way. Good luck!

I am less pessimistic than you! I’m not saying I think it will end “much sooner than we think”, I don’t.

If a friend was saying that she didn’t see any end in sight, I wouldn’t just nod. I would gently encourage her to consider the vaccine, the progress made and that thinking there’s “no end in sight” seems like it may be misplaced

Hagotcha80 · 04/02/2021 17:46

I mean I am more pessimistic than you!

DS7 had to finish compound sentences for English yesterday. We got the following:
My mummy has brown hair... “and she likes wine”
My teacher is nice... “but my maths teacher is mean.” (We’d just finished 1.5 hours of maths, an hour of which was screaming tantrums)
I cringed a bit but decided it was fair and submitted it anyway!Grin
Agree with PPs: you need to be a lot more shit and drink wine!

ParkheadParadise · 04/02/2021 18:08

My dd is due to go back to school at the end of February I've circled it on my kitchen calendar 😜
Fingers Crossed it happens because I'm a bloody shit teacher.

nowbringmethathorizon · 04/02/2021 18:09

Feeling exactly the same. Today I made a boomerang (for DS1 schoolwork) and it bloody works! Get in! Might forge a new career as a boomerang makerGrin

Ilovelove · 04/02/2021 18:13

It's past 6 o'clock.

It's Thursday.

It's wine time!
