Stomach bug help/handhold

Probably being a complete wimp but I have emetophobia (diagnosed and treated in the past but still bad). I haven't vomited in 12 years until today and DP is also sick which isn't helping as each time he is sick it triggers a panic attack (tiny house nowhere I can hide it out). Could someone please give me some magic tips to survive this currently even sips of water are making me sick but I feel immensely thirsty.

Keep trying sips of water. Or ice lollies if you have them. Or full fat but flat coke if you have that. Or whatever you fancy just not dairy. If you have any rehydration sachets (or someone can drop them at your door) they are magic.

Hope you both feel better soon.

When I had a bad stomach bug and couldn't keep anything down I just drank a lot. Cool tea. The reason was I was being sick anyway and it made it more pleasant (!) for want of a better phrase. I didn't get the horrible nasty tasting burning. So I would try and drink a bit more.

I find boiled then cooled water is better on a stomach bug than just tap water. I prefer it to be slightly warm still as it seems 'softer' somehow.

Hope you feel better soon - sickness bugs are the pits Flowers

Lucozade sport drinks or anything isotonic is great for rehydration. Or you can make your own with sugar and salt.

Water on a teaspoon, one every 20 mins until it is tolerated then shorten the time until you can tolerate sips.

OP I’m severely emetophobic as well so really do feel your pain. For me, when I have been ill, it’s more the anticipation that’s worse than the actual being sick. My sister and I were sharing a room on holiday a few years ago when she got ill and I didn’t sleep the whole week for fear of catching whatever she had.
I try to tell myself that it’s good to get it all out and that my body obviously needs to get rid of it before I’ll start to feel better but I know it’s hard.

I hope you start to feel better soon Flowers

@Turnedouttoes that's definitely correct once the being sick is over it's not so bad it's the bit before that sends me into a real spiral that and other sick people. Since posting this morning I found some rehydrant sachets and have been slowly doing tiny sips. I think something high sugar like flat coke would help as I feel really dizzy but nobody to bring me anything. Will see if I can get someone to drop something off tomorrow.
