So, my ds (14) sold some stuff online and was paid into his new Paypal account. Officially, however, it turns out you're not supposed to have a Paypal account under the age of 18.
Paypal froze his account - with over £100 in. They now say he might get the money back in 6 months. Having looked online, he might - or might not. It seems shocking that Paypal can let people open accounts without verification checks (as you'd need to open a bank account, say), and then potentially steal their money!
Anyway, my question is, give he's too young to have a Paypal account, have any other parents found a way for their under-18 dc to receive money if they sell stuff? I think we could let him have access to one of our accounts, but worried Paypal might just block those too, taking any money again.
Can others pay money using Paypal (as it seems easiest for buyers to use) but have him receive it into something else, like bank account?
Any solutions anyone has found? Surely there must be other ways than Paypal for young people to use to buy and sell stuff online?
Thanks for any suggestions.
