I have in my basket a bundle for No. 0, 3, & 6.
Never used it before but feel like treating myself.
My hair is quite frizzy....will this be a godsend?

Should i checkout?!

not worth the hype

PawPawNoodle · 03/02/2021 22:10

I was also overwhelmed - allowed myself to be upsold at a salon and it just made my hair a bit tacky feeling if anything, did nothing to solve the small bit of frizz I have, which is similar to you in that that bit of my hair wants to curl but just goes textured instead. My hair while it is bleached isn't damaged so I didn't need the treatment.

I also recommend the L'Oréal dream lengths mask as well as the Austin SOS mask, the latter of which comes with a fetching cap.

Underwhelmed even*

@nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut It’s good stuff isn’t it. I’ve been using it & switched to the shampoo & conditioner too and I really see the difference in my hair which was really bad. Why don’t you try it op, worth it for a £10.

Embarrasedaf · 03/02/2021 22:21

From my understanding of how Olaplex works, it only transforms damaged hair by rebuilding the damaged areas. If your hair is just dry or frizzy rather than damaged, you won’t see a difference as it isn’t a conditioner.

JackSparrowsTribute · 03/02/2021 22:30

My colourist uses olaplex when she highlights my hair. This improves it.

So, I tried 6 and 7 because I, too, have frizzy hair.
7 made my hair so soft but fluffy. So fluffy. Awful.
6 is a bit blah.
I'm disappointed and will go back to Moroccanoil which I've used very successfully for years for frizz and softness.

dingdonger · 03/02/2021 22:33

I like olaplex shampoo and conditioner made a big difference to my frizzy hair.

Ivy48 · 03/02/2021 22:37

I enjoyed olaplex the first week i used it then discovered it made my hair so greasy! I only had a treatment at the hairdresser in October but my hair had a greasy texture/look even when freshly washed until 2 weeks ago. Very underwhelmed

dollygoo · 03/02/2021 22:44

Op boots have their own version of this called restoring + bonding plex, it's a replica of olaplex and honestly it's amazing my frizzy hair is so soft and more manageable, their gloss spray in this range is amazing and people have commented on my glossy hair. If I remember it might have been £7 each but not 100% sure.

Cheapest place for this (UK) is Scentsational.com by the way!

birdseeder · 04/02/2021 10:01

Ok, have been to shops and bought the dream lengths mask (and shampoo and cond) - for £11 worth a go! Will update with my thoughts later!

I have been using 0&3 once a week, 3 on its own once a week and have started using 6 after both washes. My thin, fine, very dry hair looks thicker, shinier and has a bit more elasticity to it. I’m on my 3rd batch of 0&3. I have a genetic collagen condition that has meant my hair has always been fragile, porous, Baby fine and each strand on its own so thin you can barely see it. It also breaks with the slightest effort. For me olaplex is definitely helping.

Mixitupalot · 09/02/2021 22:06

@birdseeder hi how are you getting on with the dream lengths?

MiaowMiaow99 · 09/02/2021 22:34

I'm sure they do a 3, 4, 5 and 6 trial size for appox 25 pounds. I used that and it's made a big difference but hair feels quite heavy the day after.

RacheyCat · 10/02/2021 02:04

Olaplex is for people who hammer their hair with bleach. For that, it's excellent. I can't see why you'd use it if you hadn't been lightening your hair though.

TaraR2020 · 10/02/2021 02:11

Your hair sounds like mine, op.

I haven't got on with the full curly hair care method- I use whichever shampoo and conditioner (partly because it was getting expensive working out which one worked for me!)

The following things though have dramatically reduced my frizz to the point where I don't often suffer with it now:

  • microfibre turbans for allowing hair to dry
  • letting hair dry naturally or mostly naturally
  • only ever using a wide toothed comb
  • using a GHD hairdryer when I do blow dry
  • using a diffuser when I blow dry
  • finishing hair washes with a cold water rinse
  • combing through conditioner when washing
  • finishing blow dries with cool air
  • no longer fighting my hair- in letting it do its thing, its calmed down a lot
