Does anyone have restless leg syndrome? Do you have any advice please? Not been diagnosed but from google I am 99% sure I have it and it's really affecting my sleep. Thanks

It can be related to peri-menopause. Is that a possibility? You may also be in need of magnesium, potassium, or Vit D. You might want to have your bloods done to rule out deficiencies.

Magnesium spray really helps

Magnesium worked for me.

I am only 29 so don't think it could be menopause. Had bloods done a few weeks ago and all were clear. I have been struggling to sleep at night for weeks but find it difficult to get up in the morning, thought it was just due to lockdown and being uncomfortable in bed but every night the feeling in my legs get worse and now when I do eventually fall asleep it's waking me up again Sad

Thank you I will try magnesium, if I was buying it in tablet fork would I just buy magnesium alone or with something else? Was on Amazon last night and there are lots of different types of magnesium

Do you drink tea or coffee? Or even coke? If so trying switching to de-caff, this works for me.

Aquamarine1029 · 03/02/2021 01:45

I've been using a magnesium powder that I put into water/sparkling water. It's worked brilliantly for me.

ARoseDowntown · 03/02/2021 01:46

Bananas! Eat a banana a day. Helped me massively. Now I only get RLS when I’m overtired (like a baby).

RickiTarr · 03/02/2021 01:49

I find the magnesium spray a really unpleasant texture. Cream is good for a quick effect.

Magnesium tablets (I buy vitabiotics brand) when I remember - I take so many supplements ATM! - help to prevent it in the first place. Or if I’ve run out, Epsom salt bath also works.

Bluntasduck · 03/02/2021 01:51

I had this when I was pregnant. It was caused by iron deficiency

rubydoobydoo · 03/02/2021 01:58

Magnesium butter helps me, rubbed into the soles of my feet and behind my knees.

Also look into what might be triggering it - drowsy antihistamines like Nytol are a big one for me, and I also suspect any food containing MSG which is a shame as I bloody love a Chinese!

AnotherDayAnotherStory · 03/02/2021 04:47

I use magnesium malate.

Magnesium citrate is very good for curing constipation so avoid that if you don't need it Wink

Magnesium oxide is the most widely available one but the one least well absorbed by your body

I find the malate works really well for my RLS.

Topseyt · 03/02/2021 04:47

My Dad used to get it. It would disturb him at night.

I remember him saying that the only thing that eased it was to go into the kitchen to stand on the cold floor tiles. That apparently seemed to work although we still have no idea why.

AnotherDayAnotherStory · 03/02/2021 04:50

I also suspect any food containing MSG

This is definitely a trigger for me too.

makingababy · 03/02/2021 04:59

RLS is a side effect of certain antihistamines, I had it for months in my early 20s before I realised that it was m my antihistamine. It went away as soon as I switched to a different tablet.

Good luck!

Collidascope · 03/02/2021 05:37

I get it if I drink more than one can of coke a day (I make sure I've had it before lunch now), and also sometimes with my hay fever meds.

Lonecatwithkitten · 03/02/2021 07:33

Mine is caused by autoimmune disease only treating all three that I have settled it.
Mixed connective tissue disease and fibromyalgia- treated with naproxen, gabapentin and hydroxycholoroquinine and pernicious anaemia treated with B12 injections.
All have restless leg syndrome as a symptom.

StormsDontLastForever · 04/02/2021 01:21

Thank you all will try some of the ideas

I find it helps to have one foot out of bed and on the floor sort of as if I was standing. My dad gets this and also my DD. We are all hyper mobile so I always thought it was something to do with that.
