Need clarification on IKEA Click and Collect

Has anyone used IKEA click and collect very recently? I ordered on Sunday evening and selected a collection slot today between 1000 and 1600.

Rereading the emails, I'm supposed to wait for a confirmation email that my order is ready to collect. Which according to the website it isn't. Is the collection slot meaningless? Do I just turn up anyway? What if I can't go when they say my order is ready?

I'm on hold to them on the phone now, but suspected Mumsnet might be able to help quicker!

Sorry. I haven't done it

However, I'd assume they intend your order to be ready in that time period, but will contact you with an exact time when it's ready.

But that's just my assumption.

You wait for your confirmation email. It usually will come ahead of time.

Once at Ikea you drive up to a booth and get given a phone number to call. Park up and call the phone number, enter your order ref.
You will get a text message and told which bay to go to to pick up your stuff.

Park your car in said bay and someone will bring your stuff to you.

Very fast and slick when I was there.

I'd assume it will be ready by 1600, and that they mean it when they say wait for the email before heading over there.

Next and M&S are similar. They tell you your order will be ready to collect e.g. after 1200, but don't go until you've had the confirmation email.

This, very efficient at one of the London ones recently.

I think it means at some point between 10 and 4 your order will be ready rather than you are free to pick up your order anytime between the hours of 10 and 4. A bit confusing

We did this last week.
Clicked for a slot on Thursday pm. Didn't get an email that the order was ready until Friday. Collected the order on Friday pm. So yes essentially the slot you choose is fairly meaningless as I guess it's down to the staff available to process the orders that receive in a safe fashion.
Hope this helps.

I misread the email first time I used it and rocked up at 8am as my slot was 8 till 6 and I hadn't read the bit about waiting for the next email!! Luckily they were very helpful and dug it out for me.

The second time I knew what I was doing so got the 'its ready' email at about 0900 and headed on in. Very smooth and efficient process.

Sounds like my well planned day is out the window then!

I think you're all correct in that the slot is when the order might be ready, rather than a timescale in which I'm allowed to collect it. They could definitely make that a lot clearer!

Thanks

I think this is tricky when people are travelling long distances to collect orders and fitting it in around work and kids etc.
