Just that really.

Urgent referral to oral specialist - appointment tomorrow. I have a lot of rare and difficult autoimmune conditions, one of which is sjorgens and I also have lupus and they’re causing me terrible mouth issues. I suspect they may suggest removing my tonsils for various reasons and I’m scared.

I had mine out at a private hospital in London, using a technique called coblation.

It was honestly fine, I recovered well and only spent a couple of days feeling a bit rough. I’ve not been ill since, which is huge considering I had tonsillitis every 6-8 weeks.

Thank you everyone for sharing your stories and making me feel so much better.

I feel a bit awkward because I had my appointment and they said although my tonsils are inflamed they think this is just part of my lupus issues and they think I have cysts on them which are caused by the very little saliva I have going thick and causing issues . So they said they will give me a steroid mouthwash to try and some longer term thrush treatment and will see me again in 3 months to see if that’s helped. If not I may be looking at removing them but for now they’ve been granted a stay of execution!
