Asthma and vapourisers/similar

Hi,
does anyone have asthma and find using a vapouriser or something similar helps?
I used to have a Boots Vapouriser which mainly got used when I had a cough/chest infection and it really helped overnight. They don't make the same type anymore and their plug-in replacement isn't suitable for where it would need to be in the room etc.

My chest has been very tight the past couple of days and I was wondering whether getting something similar that uses essential oils just to have in the house would be helpful.
I am, and always do, use my inhaler and have taken extra puffs the past couple of days as directed in my asthma plan, but it would be good to know if there can be something additional to help.

It would be great to know if anyone has any experiences of this sort of thing.
Thanks!

I have this one www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01NBRICAY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_3FAF6Q02WEZDAXA0Y66Z?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I use it with a few drop of Olbus oil when I'm all blocked up - works wonders. It does need to be plugged in though.

Ahh thank you, I will investigate!

Having to plug it in is fine, but the new style Boots one is just a plug you put the tab into - I wouldn't be able to have it by my bed etc. Whereas the old one had a lead and could be put on a bedside table.

I use a spacer to take my inhaler when I'm feeling unwell as it helps get the meds where they need to do. I also do misting to help get more moisture into my chest, especially if I've been coughing. You can either hang your head over a bowl of boiling water with a towel over you or you can buy facial mister machines. I was advised against using oils as it agitates the airway

Thanks for replying.
I do use a spacer daily, so got that covered. I have also just got a peak flow meter as we're not seeing the Doctors face to face at the moment so will keep a track of my peak flow properly.
I am fairly new to having asthma so didn't know that misting was a thing - although it sounds exactly what my Mum used to get us to do when we were ill with a cough so makes sense.
I will definitely look into doing that.

I think it's been particularly bad today because of the weather - it was the same before Christmas when it was very damp but it still wasn't this bad.
I have spoken to my Doctor and got an apt with the asthma nurse for next week as well as asking for advice on here.
