Which vitamin for one year old?

I started giving DS multivitamin drops when we cut down his formula but I’ve realised it has no calcium in it. He has a mild dairy intolerance so we avoid him having too much and I was wondering if I need to give him calcium on top of the multivitamin? Spoke to health visitor but they were vague and unhelpful!

Why do you feel your child needs vitamins

@Theredjellybean

Why do you feel your child needs vitamins
Isn't the advice to give all children under 5 who are no longer on formula milk a daily multi-vitamin now?
squishedblueberry · 31/01/2021 20:52

The advice is as soon as they have less than 500ml of formula they should take a vitamin supplement. And I outlined why I was concerned about calcium.

Babies don’t need vitamin supplements.

They advise all little ones take vitamins now. We use the wellbaby ones in his bedtime milk, he's 2.

I only give my 1 year old vitamin D drops, the one's where you can just put one drop on a nipple/finger (I put them in his rice krispies now)

There's quite a lot of calcium in leafy green vegetables. If your DS doesn't like them by themselves I make veggie frittata quite often for lunch and mix spinach or courgette in that. (Grated cheddar makes it tastier - I think they do lacto free cheese?)

oops, stray apostrophe.

PurpleFlower1983 · 31/01/2021 21:55

We use the Wellbaby ones in nighttime milk.

Willow4987 · 31/01/2021 22:02

We’re using abidec

minnie465 · 31/01/2021 23:37

Wellbaby. Always on offer in Tesco or boots 3 for 2

Singinginshower · 01/02/2021 00:40

what do you mean by mild dairy intolerance?

BigRedBoat · 01/02/2021 08:52

@AlwaysCheddar

Babies don’t need vitamin supplements.
The NHS advise is for all children 6months to 5 years to take a vitamin A,C and D supplement daily. They also advise everyone (except formula fed babies having more than 500ml a day) to take a vitamin D supplement (year round for under 4s, October-March for older children and adults).
squishedblueberry · 01/02/2021 15:56

He has been under a dietician and they’ve said he doesn’t have an allergy but his digestive system is very sensitive to it, causes a lot of wind and bloating @Singinginshower

Thanks for suggestions!
I give him a fair bit of spinach and green veg in things but it never seems like he’s getting a lot of it IYSWIM as they obviously aren’t giant portions in omelettes and things

Currently he has a multivitamin which includes vitamin D so I presume that covers him for all the main ones
