where are part time jobs?

Our situation has changed and I'm desperately looking for a part time job. My current employer has agreed for me to drop one day but I need a lot less.

I can't find anything. I don't have an amazing job just admin work so I thought a PT office job would be easier to find but can't find anything!

It's such a shame as I may need to just quit my current job altogether as my current setup is not sustainable for me.

Anyone else struggling looking for part time work.

I think it depends what kind of job you are looking for? Plenty of jobs in care, cleaning, retail here despite the pandemic, and most professional roles state in the job advert they will consider part time hours. So I guess it depends what sort of experience you have and what wage you would need? I would recommend setting up alerts on indeed as well, you can select the part time option and it will email you whenever one is added.

You can ask your employer to consider a job share option, so you can drop 2/3 days instead of 1. It isn’t a guaranteed option as they can refuse but worth an ask.

I'm always seeing part jobs in admin in my area. Just keep looking. I've recently changed jobs as wanted to work less days as previous employer wouldn't let me despite being a zero hour contract 🙄

BooTheCar · 31/01/2021 11:14

I didn't think to ask for job share! I do need something local and the town I live in is pretty rubbish for all job opportunities.

I know I worked there for 7 years 5 days a week with no contracted hours. It's only since the pandemic and home schooling etc that I realised I need to work less hours to balance things at home a bit. I've asked to drop a day continuously before and it never really happened as they always needed me. I didn't want to leave really as loved my job but now I now have contracted hours and work 3 days a week and it's a perfect balance and keeping me sane. I am looking at doing a course in admin.

Lots of PT admin in the NHS or Councils?

I work as admin in an NHS clinic. There are 6 of us and only one person is FT. The rest of us do hours that complement each other, so there is never a shortage.

Thanks guys. I had a meeting about my hours yesterday and the one day drop is only for a few months after that they want me to work ft which I cannot do. They know I have no choice but to leave. So I guess I have a few months to look for a job.

My manager refused job share due to it being difficult. To train ppl up during this covid and she wants a ft member in her team. So that's that I guess.

I actually do work for the local authority. If I'm completely honest with myself there are things they can look at which wouldnt affect "business needs" but if they don't want to help me they can sod off

I do part time admin in a high school. Have a look on all school websites that you would be willing to travel to look at the vacancies. I dont earn loads (about £550) a month but I only work 15 hours a week term time only and my hours mean I can fo pick up and drop off at my childrens school.
