Birdhouse question

We have a birdhouse that DH was ment to put up a couple of weeks ago, along with a few other garden jobs. He didn't get round to it, and it just got left on a platform of DS's climbing frame. Didn't think much off it, and thought he might get round to it this weekend but, I've just seen some birds going in and out. Is it now to late to move it? I don't want to disturb them if their already nesting but where it is would make the climbing frame unusable, and is also quite accessible to cats.

If their just starting to build a nest, would it be better to move it straight away? Or is it already too late?

Bumping, as if I can move it, the sooner the better.

If you’re in winter, my non-expert view would be to move it asap. Better for the birds to have to find it again/have to find a new nesting site than for the hatchlings to be eaten, I would think. You might be able to peek in to check there are no eggs?

If you're in the UK then they are highly unlikely to be nesting yet. Birds tend to be nosy at this time of year about possible nesting sites but won't have made any substantial start on a proper nest. They are probably just checking it out. I'd move it ASAP and put it up where you'd like it and they will probably find it again.

It's early to be laying eggs, but not impossible. They may just be scoping out possible nest sites. I would be tempted to quickly peek and if no eggs in there move it quickly.

Thank you. I hoped we were still too early for egg, which was why I wasn't to worried about it not been up yet, then started to panic when I saw them in and out. I'll move it today, then at worst they have lost a few hours stick collecting if they abandon it. Better then them been disturbed once their more established.
