Teachers - what's going down well in the staffroom during Covid

I wanted to send something into school - a pick me up and to recognise the hard work that is so evidently coming from the school.

What do you suggest? Are there Covid no no's?

That's a really lovely idea!

We would appreciate a card sharing your thanks. That would be wonderful.

If you wish to provide a treat then things like wrapped chocolate bars or cakes are a good idea as people can grab and not touch anyone else's etc

Our staff always enjoy something to eat. Our staff are having to sit in a class at lunchtime with their year group colleagues, so might be worth bearing that in mind if you give anything, ie quite a bit for every year group or something directed to your DC's year.

Do you mean food to share with the year group - something like celebrations or fun size bars etc?

Something wrapped and individually portioned that would go well with a cup of coffee and could be taken with them. E.g. Madelines, multipacks of kit kats, penguins, twix. We are only allowed in the staff room to make a drink or get our lunch out the fridge. We need to make a swift exit! Also staff are on a rota so not all are in on the same week.

I would confirm you are allowed to do this with the school as there might not be staff around to come to the gate to pick it up, and they might want to quarantine it too.

What a lovely and thoughtful idea.

I agree with a card so that we can see it (email thanks are not often passed on...)

Lifeisarollercoaster21 · 29/01/2021 11:36

A selection of drinks. Some 'fancy' instant coffee, or find out if they have a coffee machine and buy some pods. Good quality tea. / Hot chocolate.
A bottle of good quality juice.
So something which is basic but higher end.

Lifeisarollercoaster21 · 29/01/2021 11:39

PS I would be most delighted with a personal thank you card but the above would be appreciated in general if you did want to get some treats, I'm sure.

Your staff room is out of use as not Covid secure, they don’t want to encourage people gathering. Although people do go in to make a coffee so probably individual wrapped chocolate that can be taken away.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 29/01/2021 13:59

Our not your!

Infantideas · 29/01/2021 14:02

We don’t have a staff room anymore 😞 we have a few areas /cupboards with kettles where we can go with people from our bubble. I haven’t seen some of my colleagues face to face since March!
But it’s very kind of you to send anything. Even an email to the head who can forward it on would be appreciated. Maybe some individually wrapped chocolates like celebrations to share out but the email or letter would mean just as much if not more.

JustWatchMe · 29/01/2021 14:04

Spoke to the school - they can take receipt of a thank you parcel and as you have all suggested - their time spent in the staff room is limited to grabbing a hot drink - wrapped biscuits and a note would be great, they said! Glad I posted on here because I was going to drop them by anonymously but I can see how a personal note of thanks to accompany the treats would be much better.
