Looking ahead to half term...

IT is looking bleak!
Does anyone have any plans to entertain from home? I am trying to come up with an "event" to keep them happy and off screens for a few hours. They are 8 & 4. Last summer we did a carnival, a harry potter day, converted the shed to a playhouse which gave them 2-3 days fun. Lots of science experiments, pick a country and learn about it days done.
It was much easier in the warmer months as we had the garden too. Anyone planning anything different or interesting other than the walks, board games and food that our lives have revolved around for the past 10 months?

I have two days off on half term week, one to spend with each child. I will be following this thread worth a keen eye because I too haven’t a clue what to do!

I might take the eldest (9) on their new bike to the park as they haven’t been able to go on it since Christmas because of the weather 😕

It is hard isn't it! All those kids places will be struggling missing all these holidays.

It’s been really difficult. Our children strugggled the first time, especially my eldest but this time has been much worse, I believe partly due to the weather. At least we could have lunch outside before. I do feel for them this time around.

Here’s an idea - we have a jar which we have placed loads of ‘on a whim’ activities that we can do indoors or on a rainy day. It ranges from PlayStation marathon to online painting class etc etc. Maybe you could make one and get them to put their ideas in? It’s always an exciting moment pulling one out of the jar and it’s always a surprise. We have one rule though - we have to do what’s picked out no matter what, we cannot change it for a different one. The challenge is making it work.

We have an adult one too with loads of monthly scary activities in. We pulled out abseiling at the beginning of this month and booked it the day after (thankfully, just before lockdown). Me and my partner abseiled in the snow and it was an absolutely fantastic and spontaneous experience!

Mine have been given booklets from Cubs and scouts to work through to get the stay at home badge. So we will be working through those.

@Angel2702 My DS misses beavers so much! We have had an email every few months and that is it!

I forgot the kids have asked for a scavenger hunt as they enjoyed the last one.

Some great ideas!
