Glasses wearers

Hi
I wear glasses and they are always fogging up at the moment due to wearing a mask for about 10 hrs a day at work. Please can anyone recommend something to help stop the fog? Or even a tried and tested mask that would work with glasses

Not fairy liquid tried that doesn't work

If you can sew or know someone who can, this mask is very good for glasses wearers. It has a folded down bit at the inside top which help it fit well. Just make sure you make it the right size for your face.

You can buy anti-fog glasses wipes. Not perfect but have made a massive difference for me.

Get a Foggywipe - they really work. No misting at all. After a bit you get a film of liquid at the side of the lenses, but that's easier to see through. One wiping over lasts all day and the cloth itself allegedly lasts for months - mine's still going strong after 4 weeks.

Dry soap rubbed on both sides and then polished off.
Propping the glasses over the top of the mask.
Heating / drying the room to a point that the condensation point is higher than the temperature of your glasses.

The folded down bit makes sense actually might give that a go. I'm not great with a needle but willing to try thank you

Someone at work mentioned a cloth from boots but I wasn't convinced but will look that up

I get my new glasses next week so willing to try out these methods on the old ones so will try the bar of soap trick today
Then mask making and cloth buying tomorrow
Thank you all so much

You can use the anti-fogging wipes meant for car windows, come in huge packs for fairly cheap.

I've found that the Cambridge Mask Company's reusable masks are the best here, I don't fog up with them at all (maybe because they have filters?)

SweatyBetty20 · 29/01/2021 07:46

My best friend is also my optician and she suggested twisting the ear loops before you put it in so that it leaves a very small side gap for ventilation.

SpamIAm · 29/01/2021 07:52

I find the disposable ones best, wearing them really high and obviously shaping them well to your nose. If you've got your mask on constantly you could try taping across the top of it.

I wear an N95 mask now as is compulsory in shops and other public buildings in Germany. For some reason they don't cause my glasses to instantly fog up like the blue disposable ones do. With the newer more easily transmitted variant now all round the UK I personally wouldn't be wearing a fabric one any more.

teuer · 29/01/2021 08:29

I'm in the UK btw not Germany (my family live there ) but I'm following their mask guidance as I trust their government more than ours on this)

peridito · 29/01/2021 08:41

I've just received one with a fold down flap

www.notonthehighstreet.com/moaningminnie/product/handmade-soft-jersey-face-mask

son has taken it off to work so sorry can't advise on anti fogging.

it's beautifully made and very soft

Ithinkhedidit · 29/01/2021 08:56

I wear the mask very high on my face - basically up to my eyes. Squash down the mask to the shape of your nose, then put the glasses on the mask (slightly lower perhaps than normal). This does tend to work mostly, especially with those masks that have the kind of wire thing that you can pinch to your nose.

Gap for virus to get in too.

I second, third, fourth and fifth Foggywipes - they have made my life so much better.

They look expensive, but they are so worth it, and they usually have a big discount of you buy more than one. They work way better than the disposable ones do, as well as being better for the environment. I have given one to all all my family who wear glasses, and they love them too.

And yes, you need to make sure your mask has a wire along the top too.

rbe78 · 29/01/2021 09:23

I have nothing to do with Foggywipes by the way, my post does sound like an advert, but they really are just that good!
