Dh uses head and shoulders clinically proven solutions - small bottle and more expensive

AnathemaPulsifer · 28/01/2021 20:58

T-Gel and follow the instructions on the bottle.

Rosie2000 · 28/01/2021 20:59

Had same issue with my teen a few years ago, she has used Body Shop ginger shampoo and conditioner every since and no scalp/dandruff issues.

Mochudubh · 28/01/2021 21:08

Another vote for T-Gel. It's pricey but it works (IMO).

dontgobaconmyheart · 28/01/2021 21:21

Nizoral or T-gel but make sure to follow the instructions on them. Eg leave on for several minutes before rinsing.

Otherwise try a shampoo brush, they're great. Hope you can get it sorted for her OP, not nice for her as a teenager.

BringPizza · 28/01/2021 21:35

DD uses Body Shop ginger shampoo and it works perfectly.

WeAllHaveWings · 28/01/2021 21:37

Ds uses good old head and shoulders, not a flake seen since

wonderwhatshappening1978 · 28/01/2021 21:39

Thanks guys !

Polytar if its frequent and not clearing up. You can get it in Boots and pharmacies so you could chat to one of the pharmacists about it. It's not the nicest smelling but not too bad and it's worth it for the results

Woodlandbelle · 28/01/2021 21:43

I get bad dandruff about once a year - it's quite severe. I would recommend taking to a pharmacist.

Woodlandbelle · 28/01/2021 21:45

Sorry cut off there. They are so helpful with these matters.

Roystonv · 28/01/2021 21:45

T gel, working on my scalp psoriasis. I have shoulder length hair and have found a little goes a long way.

50shadesoflunacy · 28/01/2021 21:48

My DD had this and my first go to was T-Gel as it was successful for me as a teen. It didn't work for DD at all. My hairdresser said to try H&S and it was gone within 2 washes.

50shadesoflunacy · 28/01/2021 21:49

I was v sceptical about H&S as I have heard mixed opinions but it definitely worked for DD.

alltheadrenalin · 28/01/2021 21:51

Nizoral it's a an anti fungal shampoo, my gp recommended it. Only things that's worked for me

MiddleClassProblem · 28/01/2021 21:52

Agree with T gel. I used the main one (orange colour but smells strong like nit shampoo) and now when I have a flare up from eczema I just use the clear one which doesn’t have much scent.

Use a conditioner and it a mask too on long hair as it makes it knot much easier than regular shampoo.

Maybemay123 · 28/01/2021 22:02

Ketaconazole shampoo (I've had it on prescription but think you can get it over the counter to) Dd1 has used it with success to.

omg35 · 28/01/2021 22:02

Nizoral

Flatcokeisnojoke · 28/01/2021 22:21

Nizoral works 100%

luckylavender · 28/01/2021 22:21

I've had dandruff off and on for years. T Gel, H&S, Polytar are no good for me. Every so often I have to use Nizoral for a week or two but I find the Superdrug Trichology dandruff range very good. It has a tonic to put on your scalp too & it's great. As recommended by Mumsnet.

springdale1 · 28/01/2021 22:25

Another vote for Nizoral, stick with it for a few weeks at least.

veeeeh · 28/01/2021 22:32

Coconut oil. I had dreadful flakiness, big chunks and it was awful. Tried every product on the market, but after twelve months of misery found this worked. OK, wash hair with gentle shampoo. Aveeno is good, then massage coconut oil in when dry. Voila.

I cannot believe it. I was in misery for many months, but no longer, ok there is a little going on, but NOTHING like before.

holidaydreaming · 28/01/2021 22:49

Both my dds have recently suffered with dandruff. I got a comb and kind of scraped their scalps with it to get all the dandruff off. Sounds barbaric but they both quite enjoyed it! There was absolutely loads, but then after washing the hair there wasn’t much and after a couple of days, nothing. I had to repeat this twice about a week apart and the dandruff pretty much disappeared.
