Any migraine sufferers here?

I've been self-employed for 18 years or so but am hoping to get a real job again. I have migraines every so often, used to be about every six weeks but more often since Covid began (or maybe perimenopause, or both?).

My question is, at what point, if at all, should I mention this in the interviews or job offer process? I do have medication, but really it only stops the head pain and I would not be able to work (or do anything except lie in a dark room) that day. They pretty much always start in the early hours of the morning and 24 hours later I'm fine to work, if a little washed out and limp-lettucey.

Googling doesn't really tell me anything concrete about the legal aspects, so any advice/knowledge appreciated.

I have migraines, between 4-8 times a year.

I've never really made an issue of them, depends on the sort of job you are going for really, high pressure fast paced probably more of an issue, my current job is flexible and low stress so suits me.

During interviews I've normally been asked about sickness absence in previous jobs and why which, if you've been self employed, is going to be more difficult. That's the only time I've ever brought it up and I've never not got a job because of them, good luck.

Thanks totally, probably mid pressure job but definitely less flexible than being self-employed. Although I suppose having to stay up working until all hours for weeks on end because of a difficult client isn't entirely "flexible" either...

I hadn't thought of the possibility of being asked about sickness absence in an interview. Maybe I'd just have to say something about always meeting deadlines?

Maybe the best plan is get a job (fingers crossed), hope for weekend migraines only until I've impressed them with my abilities, and then have the conversation after the first migraine, once I've demonstrated the ability to make up the work etc.
