Can I tell you my bit of good news

Ive has a terrible past few years, more like 6 years.

But the one tiny little shimmer is that since the start of this year I have lost 10lbs. I was overweight before and I have always felt quite down about it but struggled to do much.

Id like to lose 45 Lbs in total so I can be 8stone 7lbs although I may stop and reassess at 9 and a half or 9. But I would like to know what it feels like to be thin or skinny.

It’s a small achievement for me but it’s the only thing I have control over in my life right now.

I don’t have anyone else to tell so I’m posting it here.

Well done! 🥳

partyatthepalace · 28/01/2021 17:28

Congratulations 💐

I am trying to hear up to loose weight and not getting on with it so I am impressed!

austenwildfell · 28/01/2021 17:42

Well Done You,

Did you have any tangible or visual cues to help motivation.
There is a particular suit that I used to wear to special business meetings.

I need to get back to being able to wear it again.

beela · 28/01/2021 17:46

Fab, well done! Just think how much fun the clothes shopping will be when the shops finally reopen.

Smallsteps2021 · 28/01/2021 18:34

Ha, yes I hope so. I feel quite down at the moment so thinking of shopping doesn’t really cheer me up or anything really but hypothetically I feel happy about it if that makes sense. I guess I hope that once I feel back to normal I’ll feel really happy about the weight loss. I still have another 35 lbs to go ish.

To the Pp who asked about visual cues. I have clothes that I bought 15 years ago when I was 18 that I never wore because they were a size too small and then I just got bigger. I still have them and I’d like to fit into them at some point. I think I also thought I’m not sure I can really pull them off now as I’m getting older even if I lose weight So this is my last chance (for those clothes I mean). Otherwise I’ll just have to give them away.

Flowers well done!

orchidsonabudget · 28/01/2021 18:47

Amazing
Well done OP
I am in a similar position to you
Have had a pretty shitty last 3/4 years
Since 2018
And have gained over 2 stone in that time
Had to buy something in a size 16 today
I was a 12 before
I can't seem to stop eating
Lockdown is dreadful for it

lovelemoncurd · 28/01/2021 18:49

How? I'm 5 4 and 11 3. I need to lose weight too.

newnameforthiscomment · 28/01/2021 20:28

Amazing. I have always been in full control of my diet and exercise but this pandemic has destroyed it. So in my view you are incredible for doing it at a time like this! Sorry to hear you have had a shit few years. Hope it's onwards and upwards from here

Smallsteps2021 · 23/02/2021 06:20

Hello everyone, I just wanted to update this as it’s good as a bit of a log. I have carried on and have now done over 7 weeks and have lost 15lbs.

Well done that’s brilliant. I’m the same height as you and weigh similar to your target and I’m definitely not too skinny (to those that think 8.5 stone seems low). It obviously depends on the individual. Good luck with your continued efforts. I hope this hear improves for you in every way as well as just the weight loss.

Deathraystare · 23/02/2021 07:07

Congratulations! - Don't want to be a downer but you may not like the clothes when you get into them. I had two eighties style skirt suits I was desperate to get into. When I eventually did I wondered why I bought them in the first place!

Why not get something new when you lose the weight (needn't be expensive). A nice set of undies perhaps???

MrsKFZeeeeee · 23/02/2021 09:22

Bloody hell well done, this lock down has given me chance to look at the lovely clothes that no longer fit me too, your post shall spur me on
I think you have become my guru Grin

Oldraver · 23/02/2021 09:29

Well done 💐

Labobo · 23/02/2021 09:36

Great work - and quickly too. That is great news.

I lost a stone last year. I still feel so happy about it. I have two more to lose, or at least 1.5 but that stone took me out of the borderline obese category into simply 'overweight' and I'm now only half a stone over top BMI. Long way to go and I don't make it easy - lots of comfort eating recently.

You are so right to celebrate it and notice it. The more we acknowledge stages along the way, the more likely we are to get there in the end.

Smallsteps2021 · 23/02/2021 09:49

Thank you everyone. Your posts are so kind. And mean a lot to me.

I have another 29lbs to go.

I really have never achieved anything like this before. Good luck to everyone also trying. It’s a slog but once you get into a groove it helps!
