I have a theory: couples with similar shaped noses stay together happily on a long term basis.

Wtf??
However thinking about it..my ex and I had opposite nose shapes and we obv split up.
My now bf has a tiny nose..I dont, although they're similar shapes...let's hope this is enough to keep us together Confused

Ghostella · 27/01/2021 23:05

Who nose?!

BeautifulStar · 27/01/2021 23:05

Yes there’s scientific truth in it!We are attracted to people who mirror us - I don’t think it’s necessarily just noses! I know this sounds a bit weird but my dh looks a little bit like my dad - I wasn’t aware of it at first but their features are definitely not that dissimilar - and I look like my dad!

I just found this article:
“According to that 2010 study, people are not only more attracted to people who resemble our parents, but also people who resemble ourselves. Researchers showed the subjects a photo of a stranger morphing either into an image of another stranger or an image of themselves. When the participants were asked to rate those people in terms of attractiveness, they were more likely to choose the individuals who were an amalgamation of a stranger and themselves. For another 2013 study published in PLOS One, people were shown images of their partner’s face that had been altered to include some features either from a random stranger’s face or the participant’s own face. And across the board, both male and female subjects consistently rated the composite that included some of their own features as the most attractive.”

Actually me and my husband have similar noses wooooohoooo 😂

CheesePleaz · 27/01/2021 23:37

Are we at sixth form college?

God even that sounds like a holiday at the moment, yeah let's do it. So we're at 6th form, we've done the mathematical calculations and indeed Callum is "4 Eva" but... do our noses mirror each other?

DH and I, happily married for over 30 years, our noses couldn't be more different and we don't look in the least bit alike. I have a nice, neat little nose, DH has a bit of a hooter. Thankfully all the DC got a version of mine Grin

Is this also the explanation for why people choose a dog breed that looks like them?
