Hand creams

Any recommendations for hand creams that work. Its for my DH. His hands are so sore and he has little what look like paper cuts. I've sorted him out some I had including a nice Clarins one but think he needs something of industrial strength but not greasy IYSWIM. Think the problem started after washing hands regularly but maybe not drying them properly. Love to know if you have found anything really effective .

O'Keeffe's Working Hands
The body shop Hemp hand protector is also good.

Lush Dream Cream. I should get a commission from Lush really, I've recommended this so often.

Neutrogena

Mavala. Soaks in in seconds.

Neutrogena if used under cotton gloves at night

KirstenBlest · 27/01/2021 16:17

Is he using handwash, OP?
Get him to use bar soap instead.

Eucerin do a Urea hand cream that is great. I do t rate clarins hand cream much anymore

Labobo · 27/01/2021 16:26

Ditch anti-bac soaps and use normal soap. It's just as effective and doesn't trigger chapped skin.

Neutrogena Norwegian hand cream is one of the best. Developed for and used by fishermen. Unscented so quite manly. Wink

Personally I find Ponds Cocoa Butter hand cream works best. Since nagging DH to use this after every hand wash, I've noticed his hands are much less chapped. But it does make you smell of vanilla cake.

Another vote for O'Keeffe's Working Hands -it sorted a similar issue for my husband.

BadEyeBri · 27/01/2021 16:34

Eucerin

sylbunny · 27/01/2021 16:39

O'Keefe's. It's honestly leagues above anything else for very sore hands.

StillGoingToWork · 27/01/2021 16:45

Aveeno. I had incredibly sore dry hands from using the soap and sanitiser at work. I tried others including Nutrogena but it didn't improve. I got some Aveeno hand cream from Amazon and my hands were better within two days.

chesterfuckingdraws · 27/01/2021 16:46

Flexitol hand balm is amazing and dyes to leave your hands all slippy.

You can also get stuff called gloves in a bottle that might help offer some protection and stop his hands getting worse

chesterfuckingdraws · 27/01/2021 16:47

That should say....doesn't leave hands feeling slippy 🙄

BabyBee93 · 27/01/2021 17:03

This L'occitane one saved my mums elderly hands (and I always pinch some when she visits!). Pricey for a hand cream but it's totally worth it and will have his hands soft and healed within days

cotton gloves and something similar to double base - apply cream and pop on gloves and wear in bed sleeping

Redcrayons · 27/01/2021 17:16

The Nutrogena Norwegian one is good, but I also love Aveeno if I’m really dry and sore skin.

I have a Tube of Aldi rip off of Elizabeth Arden 24 hour cream which cleared up eczema flare up my face, used it overnight as it’s quite greasy.

percheron67 · 27/01/2021 17:18

Clarins hand cream is superb with a dollop of Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream for really sore places. Slightly away from this - white cotton gloves - where have they gone? . Have people been squirreling them away as was done with loo paper! I cannot find any.

jambeforeclottedcream · 27/01/2021 18:07

Doesn't smell the nicest but I really like Atrixo hand cream for when my hands are super dry and have been through the mill a bit
