Do I cancel Disneyland (Paris) or not?

We booked the holiday before this post

So we have Disneyland Paris booked for the first week in October this year and we really want to go. Obviously everyone had had a crap year, we've been very badly affected by the pandemic and still want to look forward to this holiday but there are concerns. We wouldn't go if by then, we haven't received the vaccination for a start. We know when we can cancel it by so if we haven't had an offer of a vaccine 5 days before that, we categorically will reschedule. However, I've heard that it's potentially possible that we could get stuck there quarantining for 10 days; we couldn't afford to do that and I'd probably get fired which we cannot afford. Is it true that it's possible? Also, if we've had the vaccination, would we still need to provide a negative Covid test? I'm going to do a pros and cons list to summarise otherwise this'll be very long;

Cons:

No character meet and greets I assume

Castle is being refurbished
No fireworks
Potential uncertainty about return? (We are driving there)

Pros:

Desperately need a getaway
DD is excited and talks about it every day (although I think she'd be disappointed that she couldn't meet her favourite characters)
I mean going to Disneyland is a pro in itself, it's amazing (IMO).

So I need objective advice. I'm the one suggesting rebooking but my husband wants to wait and see. What would you suggest? TIA.

It’s January. If we’ve learnt nothing else in the last 10 months it’s that the world can turn on its axis in 10 months!

Wait and see.

I’d wait and see, but manage your daughter’s expectations that it’s still not clear if you’ll definitely be able to go or not.

I want to visit my parents this summer, but it’s still to early to tell what will happen with the vaccinations and whether things will have progressed enough by then. It’s all still up in the air at the moment.

I think I'd wait for now. As we've seen in the past a lot can change very quickly with covid.

Your basing your pros and cons on what's likely to happen in the very near future. Things might be looking a lot better by October

I know @Redglitter I just have anxiety and I'd rather set my expectations realistically if that makes sense Sadbut you're right, everything changes so quickly with Covid.

I’d wait. Wait and see. Also, if the worst does happen, don’t cancel just re-book for next year.

Another vote for wait and see . I have booked Caribbean for early July. I know it may have to be postponed but desperately wanted something to look forward to.

Caswint · 26/01/2021 08:00

I would not be telling my dc about any future plans as things get cancelled last minute during the pandemic- not a trip, not a party planned for November, not a day out in July. See: Christmas. Do not get her hopes up.

You know very well, because we all do, that living day to day is the best we can do right now, and hanging your hopes on plans like a trip to Disney is a good way to be disappointed and depressed and stressed.

Wait and see. In the meantime, try to do something that you like today. Something that will make you happy.

And good luck!

We’ve moved our DLP 2020 December holiday to December this year. I’m just keeping everything crossed it can go ahead. We were staying in the DLH but it’s closed until 2022 at least so it’s not going to be the trip we wanted. It’s also our first time not booking directly with DLP & it’s far harder to get refunds from our travel agents.
I would wait to see & DLP have been very proactive in sorting out bookings etc.
