I haven't but am using Paul Noble's audiobook to learn Spanish and he is excellent. He has a French version too

I leanrt french at school. But as an adult Ihave learnt 4 other languages. Each of them to good conversational level.

Tips - focus on speaking. You need to use and speak what you are learning. Don't be afraid of making mistakes, just go for it!

I have been watching about 50 hours of Spiral (French subtitled cop drama) on Iplayer....and feel my French has come along rather nicely 😂

Absolute beginner? I've heard good things about Pimsleur but it's about £20 a month.

Did you do any French in school? If you've already learned the grammar (but it's rusty) then I would recommend Duolingo. It's great for just drilling vocabulary and grammar.

J’etudie francais avec duolingo

Duolingo is great

Once you complete duolingo, I recommend taking online conversational classes with native French speakers (Italki is an excellent platform for that. It made me semi fluent in Spanish.

A mixture of Duolingo and Michel Thomas CDs will give you a good start.
The very best approach IMO is Alliance Francaise or Institut Francais classes; unfortunately these are quite expensive. Usually they are only available in some large cities, however at the moment the classes are online so it's an ideal time to try them.
Otherwise, in normal times you can often find evening classes locally. These are a bit pot luck re quality of teaching but worth a go to get practice in speaking the language - that's important.
