Distract me from period pain ...

I’m going daft with it, I’ve had dihydrocodeine, paracetomal and ibuprofen . Spoken to a GP at 7ish (hence the DHC) and they’re satisfied it is just period pain, advised bed rest, hot bottle and deep breathing .

I’m so so horrendously sore, can’t have any more pain relief until 3am - I would pop another hut I’m also on strong anti depressants and beta blockers at bedtime, my BP already runs low, and don’t think it’s a good mix .

It’s bloody awful (literally) . Horrible dragging/pulling sensation .

are there any nice, simple things on Netflix ? Usually go to TBBT or Friends but a bit fed up with both ... have got britbox as well ...

I’ve been watching sweet magnolias. It’s feel good easy watching American drama.
There’s nothing quite like period pain is there? Have you had a bath? Water sometimes soothes ........

giesaweebosie · 25/01/2021 22:36

It is the absolute worst . Relieved GP was happy to prescribe decent pain relief though . I’ve got uni lectures at 10am right through til 5 so need to be fairly compus mentis so a bit wary of taking them after 3/4am or so !

I’ve had a shower yeah, will jump in the bath in the morning if still aching like this .

Will google sweet magnolias - hopefully fall asleep watching it !

Sorry you're suffering. What steps are you taking about getting the cause identified, longer-term?

Thank you ... Have had MRI, ultrasound etc - they suspect it’s endometriosis and can see patches on MRI that do look endo like but not willing to do surgery at the moment .

I’ve had pill, coil, injections, implant etc already so next step is surgery or ablation . Or trying the pill again I suppose .

Do you have a hot water bottle to hug?
Thanks

TheFriendlySoapmaker · 25/01/2021 22:56

Oh that's bad. I hope you can get surgery once things settle down a bit.
Don't go for laser ablation, it has a poor track record. Try and get a referral to a specialist centre if you can, where they can do excision.

CatVsChristmasTree · 25/01/2021 22:58

If you have any in the house, something like buscopan or mebeverine can help with the cramping. Can take with painkillers. Or brandy!
Mine tend to floor me and I don't have endo, can't imagine how awful it would be then!

Just here to second going for excision, ablation worked for all of 4 weeks for me. Excision worked for years and years. A TENS machine helped with pain too

HelloViroids · 25/01/2021 23:04

Huge sympathy, I have horrid endo and the pain is awful. I would usually get in the bath (sometimes at 3am) and also have a TENS machine from Amazon which helps. When I need distracting from the pain, I tend to read mumsnet classic threads - or Bridgerton is good and mindless on Netflix if you haven’t seen it.

Flowers, thank you - fell asleep thankfully, woke up just now, went for a wee, fell over and cracked my second phone screen ... aaargh . Don’t think it’s insured either . Damn damn damn .

Dithering over ringing EE and explaining my tale of misery but think they’ll still charge a small fortune, might try Timpsons instead . Bugger !

Have taken second DHC so hopefully get a few more hours sleep before need to be up at 9ish . Thank god for zoom lectures , means I can sit with a cup of tea and a hot bottle !

FlowersGin and sympathy @giesaweebosie

I too delve into Mumsnet classics, (elderly Korean lady is fabulous) strap a hot water bottle (or a warm dog) to my belly and if possible rock in a rocking chair in front of the tv.

Apparently they’ve taken Feminax Ultra (naproxen) off the market, which is the only thing that ever worked for me. I can’t wait for menopause, frankly!

Hope you get some more sleep and feel better tomorrow Flowers
