Can I cash in a prescription that was issued 7 months ago?

My Dr prescribed some tablets for me at the end of June last year but for various reasons I didn’t end up getting them. However I feel they would benefit me now so was hoping to get them from the chemist tomorrow. Does anyone know if my prescription will still be valid?

Unlikely. Can you call your GP and ask?

HidingInTheLight · 25/01/2021 17:15

No, I believe they expire after 3 months (or at least years ago, when as a uni student I said “can I get this next week?” thats what the GP said)

Sorry, no a script is only valid for 6 months so pharmacy shouldn’t be able to supply. You will need to contact GP for another script.

I'd doubt it, but call your GP and ask for another prescription.

Or call the pharmacist. They can tell you whether or not they would process it at this stage. My feeling is that they won't.

Thanks everyone. Just thought I’d check here first before bothering the surgery but I’ll call my GP to ask for another prescription.
