Cooking Casserole. Help needed!

I've bought 2 casserole kits from aldi, meat veg gravy, chuck in a pot and then in the oven. However, 2 packs don't fit in my oven casserole dish, so I've put them on the hob in a big pot to cook on the hob.
Here's the problem, it's very frothy! Is this ok? What do I do? Skim the froth?

Yes skim the froth off
Put it on a very low simmer

I've never seen a casserole that looks like that! Although I'm not sure what you mean by a casserole 'kit'. Is it fresh/chilled stuff that you just throw together?
I'd skim it and hope for the best. Maybe add a bit of stock. And make a normal casserole next time!

Did you pan fry the meat first ?

Perhaps you’re over boiling it. It should be on a low summer

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 25/01/2021 15:34

It was a pack with fresh meat, prepped veg and a sachet of gravy that you add water too. The pack says just to put everything in a pot to cook. No instructions for browning off the meat first. I put it on, was going to bring to the boil then turn down the heat to simmer but the froth just kept on growing Grin
@katy1213I do normally do my own stew from scratch but due to commitments I've had to use these kits for convenience today.

I’ve never seen froth on a casserole.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 25/01/2021 15:44

What meat is it?

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 25/01/2021 15:46

It's pork

I made the pork one from Aldi...it didn't look like that at all!

GreenGordon · 25/01/2021 15:48

Did it smell ok?

SatsumasOrClementines · 25/01/2021 15:49

That is very odd! What’s it like under the froth?

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 25/01/2021 16:02

@GreenGordon

Did it smell ok?
I had covid a while ago but still haven't got my smell back 100% so I'm not a reliable source

It's been simmering for a while now and looks ok.

It looks like there is a lot of water in that casserole. You are boiling it!

It's on the smallest ring and lowest heat. Can't turn it down any further. I have had the lid on though, I might take it off for a bit to let it evaporate

Maybe you could transfer it into a larger, shallow, saucepan? It would help reducing
