Ok, so my wall is 256cms wide, and 256cms tall. The roll of wall paper is 6.05 tall, by 0.52m wide. How many rolls of paper would it take to paper my wall please?
I have tried working this out but now I'm just confussing myself!

Sorry, 230cms tall.

Two? Is the wall 2.3 metres high? It looks like you need five drops of paper. 5 x 2.3 is 11.5, two rolls of wallpaper is 12.1. As long as there is no pattern repeat to take into consideration.

InvisibleToEveryone · 24/01/2021 19:40

I go with with 4 or 5, but it also depends on the pattern match.

Can always return unused unopened rolls.

Thank you both for your replies. Yes, 2.3 metres high. So, spell it out for me, how many rolls would that be?

Oh I get it, I think! Two rolls of paper?

You need to know the repeat though. Then find a wallpaper calculator and put the figures in Smile

Janek · 24/01/2021 20:00

Yes, I think so. Is it just one wall? Is there a pattern? The repeat (extra you might need to allow so that the pattern matches between the pieces) is usually on the label (and in the blurb if you're buying online presumably).

Lweji · 24/01/2021 20:01

More like 3 rolls, possibly 4.

titchy · 24/01/2021 20:06

How big is the pattern repeat? That's how much 'spare' you need on each drop.

You need 5 drops. Each drop will be 2.56 PLUS the pattern repeat PLUS another half the pattern repeat (or 20 cm if very small pattern for spare).

LawnFever · 24/01/2021 20:07

If you look on the Wallpaper direct website there’s a calculator Smile

4amWitchingHour · 24/01/2021 20:09

At least three rolls, as you want each drop to be one piece, yes? And then as PPs have said, however many extra you need to sort out the pattern match.

Basically depending on the pattern you're either going to get one or two drops per roll.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/01/2021 20:10

5 drops, so a total of 11.5 metres of wallpaper. Unless there is absolutely no wastage due to pattern matching, you'll need 3 rolls and will use hardly any of the third roll. This is probably deliberate to sell more wallpaper.

73kittycat73 · 24/01/2021 20:13

There is no matching up, it's a white glittery paper.

OP posts:
peak2021 · 24/01/2021 20:13

I think three which means some waste, assuming you don't want a line of wallpaper in the middle of the third drop.

73kittycat73 · 24/01/2021 20:15

Wall paper direct estimated 2 rolls, but said, 'of our paper.'

2.56 m wide, divided by 0.52m width paper means 5 drops to go across the wall.
6.05m on a roll, divided into 2.3m drops means 2 drops out of a roll of wall paper.
So you need 3 rolls.

Soontobe60 · 24/01/2021 20:21

I’d buy 3 because if you only buy 2 Sod’s law will mean that you cock up at least 1 drop!

tommika · 24/01/2021 20:23

is 256cms wide, and 230 tall. The roll of wall paper is 6.05 tall, by 0.52m wide. How many rolls of paper would it take to pa

Wall = 256cm wide
Paper = 52cm wide
256/52=4.9
The wall will need 5 strips of paper

Paper=695 long
Wall=230 tall
695/230=3.03 strips per roll

If you don’t have to align a pattern then you could get away with 2 rolls, and have half a roll spare
If you do need to align a pattern then you probably need one roll per two strips, (leaving spare paper discarded for alignment) so would need 3 rolls, again only one strip spare for mistakes

4 rolls will be safe and ensure you have them all from one batch to match rather than going back for a extra roll and risking not getting the matching batch

Thank you all so much for your help and input. I appreciate it. Flowers
