Flat red “rash”

Grandson(15mths) has redness around his bellybutton and on the back of his legs. Quite a large “rash” that looks like sunburn but doesn’t seem to have spots in it! Looks like sunburn! Anyone know what it could be?

Can you upload a non identifying picture?

Missingthebridegene · 24/01/2021 18:25

Scarlet fever? Look on the nhs website for other symptoms! It's doing the rounds at nursery so that's why it came to mind!

Any chance it’s eczema?

Hi Thankyou! Do you think those pics I’ve put on look like scarlet fever?

I can’t see very clearly but picture 2 looks very uniform so I would question a reaction to something first of all.

leroi98 · 24/01/2021 19:09

Looks like an allergic reaction to something. My daughter had the same years back(a lot reder than this though) she was allergic to cats. When you touch it is it hot?

yahyahs22 · 24/01/2021 19:23

Has he recently had any jabs? Sometimes a rash happens after jabs

Su52 · 24/01/2021 19:24

I don't think it's hot no..I'm not with my daughter at the moment as she sent me those pictures. I did see them briefly earlier on. He was fine in himself.

An allergy reaction isn’t necessarily hot. If it is a reaction and the cause has gone, then he is likely to already have lost the rash or will have lost it by morning. If your daughter has any baby piriton to give, that would help.

I’m guessing your daughter is still trying new foods with him, so something there could have caused a reaction or else a change to clothing or environment.

If no temperature, nappies etc all ok and well in himself, I wouldn’t be worried by that rash.

leroi98 · 24/01/2021 19:29

Maybe ring 111 see what they suggest. you might even be able to send them the photos ,as that's what doctors are doing over the phone at the moment. It's worth a try instead of worrying about it 🤷‍♀️

Thankyou all!
I remember now that his Pooh was yellow today-like how a baby's would be...
