Oven has died - can I finish the cake on the hob?

A Victoria sponge is half baked. Could I put the cake tin onto a griddle pan and would that cook the inside? Its brown enough on the top but still pretty raw in the middle.

Phew indeed.

And we changed the element in our oven when it broke, it's pretty straightforward and we aren't skilled. Hardest bit was managing the rusted screws and screw holes.

Air fryers are a brilliant stop gap, and can cook cakes if you get the right kind!

DH is super practical and has ordered the element which arrives on Tuesday.

The cake was ok. Not the nicest cake ever but cakes is cake.

Nearly all cake can be improved by a dollop of jam and custard. Glad you managed to fix it.

Cake? Please tell me more.

Depends on the kind, but basically it's a mini oven. If you have one which fits a tin with space around for the air to circulate, you can bake in it.

I use mine to crisp up a microwaved jacket potato, bacon/sausages, Indian snacks. And the kids use it for all manner on unhealthy snacks, breaded chicken, onion rings, potato croquettes.
