I don't think anyone has asked yet this morning ... SNOW & SLEDGING

MadamFlutterby · 24/01/2021 10:57

so who is letting their kids go sledging today?

OP posts:
OrangePlumGrape · 24/01/2021 10:58

I am. They’re over in the next street and I can see them through the window. Eldest is in a mask and both have had reminders to give everybody space and know to move away if anyone gets too close.

murbblurb · 24/01/2021 11:05

...and try to land in something soft. You really don't want to be in A and E at the moment.

yearinyearout · 24/01/2021 11:09

Well our local fb page have already started a bloody rumpus with a post declaring "just been to the park and there's over 100 people all socialising, what happened to lockdown?!" Jeez. Poor kids and their parents been stuck in trying to home school all bloody week and can't have some fun at the weekend without being judged 🙄

How sad that going out with your own household to play in the snow is now seen as a crime.

NerrSnerr · 24/01/2021 11:10

We haven't gone to where we'd usually go sledging because we know it'll be rammed. We've made snowmen in the garden and will head out later to some quiet fields to play in the remaining snow.

Normandy144 · 24/01/2021 11:15

Yes if course! Get out before the covid police start complaining. Enjoy.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/01/2021 11:16

Our facebook has a few posts about sledging. Local shop has opened especially to sell them. People are posting the lesser known places they used to sledge in and some are posting that Slope A is a bit full now.

From the pictures it looks chaotic and fun but not too busy in each spot!

Maybe being in such a small market town has its advantages every now and then!

DottyWott · 24/01/2021 11:17

We have but I feel a bit uneasy because our local hospital which is under immense pressure as they all are, had 70 admissions due to trauma the other weekend when we had snow. Some slips and falls but loads of sledging accidents.

BournvilleGreen · 24/01/2021 11:18

It's been very quiet here this morning- people are only just coming out (some with sledges)
Lots of adults snowballing

Those that usually social distance are, those that don't bother aren't.

PaquitaVariation · 24/01/2021 11:19

We had snow a couple of weeks ago and everyone in the village was out on sledges. What annoyed everyone was people travelling from all over the area (30 miles) to also use the hill in the village, parking the cars on every spare inch of pavement and leaving their rubbish and broken sledges for the village to clear up. But the actual kids enjoying themselves no one had an issue with. Enjoy the snow.

BournvilleGreen · 24/01/2021 11:20

And the two other snowfalls we've had this winter, people came out straight away- in the dark, to play...my children included! They've not seen playable snow for about half their lives.
People have been v good about keeping family groups separate.

Skyechasemarshalontheway · 24/01/2021 11:21

We have done this weekend.
The first minister of Scotland a few weeks ago said live on tv that she sees sledging as a way of exercise for young people and very low risk for transmission of the virus as outdoors.

jiggetyjig · 24/01/2021 11:23

No snow here so no sledging.

alltheadrenalin · 24/01/2021 11:23

Covid really has brought out the worst in some people. Go enjoy the snow but the Karen's start up

WorraLiberty · 24/01/2021 11:36

It's only just started snowing here in London.

I love it but doubt we'll get enough settle for a snowball fight Sad

sashagabadon · 24/01/2021 11:38

Yep!

pollylocketpickedapocket · 24/01/2021 11:38

Yesterday had a bit of snow, got my 4 yo right out in it, had great fun!

MillieEpple · 24/01/2021 11:40

Ive said yes to playing but no to sledging. Dont fancy a trio to A&E as the onky site close is very steep.

EmmaStone · 24/01/2021 11:46

We live rurally so yes, we were out and sledging on a local hill. There were a couple of other families, but we all kept our distance, plenty of space. I did wonder about where we used to live, snow days were amazing social events (people bringing sloe gin, mulled wine, sharing sledges etc), and I think it would be very tough this year to avoid that.

Not expecting our snow to last very long so we had fun while we could.

AnyFucker · 24/01/2021 11:48

My children are grown up but I have been happy to see others doing normal things in the snow

Theforest · 24/01/2021 11:50

We just went for a long walk pulling the youngest in a sledge earlier. Great fun. Lots more people out now and snow starting to melt so glad to get out that early

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/01/2021 11:55

The Karens

Really?

Rainb0wDrops · 24/01/2021 11:58

No snow here so another bloody walk in the rain for us - not bitter at all!

badlydrawnbear · 24/01/2021 11:58

We have been, but we have enough hills in our park to sledge at a distance from other people.

MrsDThomas · 24/01/2021 12:36

We’ve already been. And going again after lunch.

edwinbear · 24/01/2021 12:41

We’ve been out for about an hour to our local park with our new plastic snowboard Grin. Lots of fun, busy, but people following the rules and giving everyone plenty of space.
