Coffee maker that will keep coffee hot

bellagogosdead · 23/01/2021 13:37

I am thinking of buying a coffee maker, I spend way too much time in the morning faffing with my aeropress.

Maybe I need a filter coffee maker with a little hot plate like dm had in the eighties?

Do they keep the coffee pretty hot? I would want it to stay hot for about an hour and a half ideally. I start the day very gradually.Smile

Can anyone recommend one please?

I used to have a large insulated cafetière but nothing apart from a proper Thermos will keep coffee hot for that long, and if it does it will taste fairly horrid. Microwaving cold coffee is marginally better.
(I ended up drinking far too much coffee when I had the insulated cafetière.)

Melitta Filter Coffee Maker with insulated jug. We have had ours for a few years. Heated element only stays on for 15 mins after brewing but insulated jug keeps it hot.

I have a Krups filter coffee machine with a hot plate, it came from a charity shop but the Krups Pro-Aroma range looks similar. It works really well for us as the hot plate stays on until we switch it off. DH isn't too fussy about his coffee so he doesn't mind that it's been sitting on a hotplate for a while. It's not too bulky so doesn't take up much kitchen space and the jug is big enough to give us a few decent mugs of coffee if we fill it to the maximum.
We previously had a massive Krups coffee machine a neighbour was chucking out and it lasted for years so I think Krups' quality is pretty good

We have a filter coffee maker with a hot plate and it's one of my favourite ever things. You'll find that most (maybe all) turn off after 25min max due to risk of the thing overheating if left for too long. We just keep turning ours on through the morning.

Thank you so much for your replies.
After reading a few reviews of different machines I am worried that the coffee will be too weak. I like a strong brew usually a machiato if out, at home I don't dilute the coffee from my aeropress.
Hmm I don't want to waste my money or precious space in my kitchen...

As much as I try, my aeropress coffee is always cold, half full & weak. If I try to add more water/coffee, I just ruin it Angry

Yes to the Melitta filter coffee maker - after years of using filter coffee makers with hot plates ( that we always ended up binning when we smashed the glass jugs and couldn’t get them replaced) we got the Melitta and the insulated jug keeps the coffee warmer for a lot longer. The only downside to this one is that you have to buy filter papers as the filter cone is a slightly odd shape so you can’t get a permanent filter to fit.
