How important is teeth brushing?

My DD is 11 months & has 8 teeth, it is absolutely impossible to brush her teeth, she just will not let me. The routine I have come to with her is that whilst I am brushing mine I have her in the bathroom & give her a baby toothbrush which she sucks/ chews on.
Do I need to force this more with her as it will cause her issues later on, or should I pick my battles & this isn't one until shes older?
Thanks!

Ours is non-negotiable but I don't pin him down as I don't want it to be a stressful experience.

We have four different toothbrushes, finger, chewable, normal and a little sonar one and dependant on if he is teething or not will be the one we use. If he is teething I will rub toothpaste on his gums and then put it on the chewable which he will chew on for thirty minutes at his own pace.

We have just introduced the sonar one which we do in the bath of an evening or vibrates and lights up and my son really loves it and can tolerate it being held on his teeth for 5/10 seconds and means we can brush him teeth without scrubbing his already sore gums.

I went to the dentist recently and asked this question and they said the most important thing is fluoride on the teeth so if your baby really isn't having it one day rub some toothpaste on their gums.

Good luck and don't feel pressured to pin your baby down and make them cry to do it. But if that's how you want to then do, just do what works for you.
