Hello All,
I am after a few ideas from you, if that’s ok. I fear I have lock down brain, and my imagination has left me...
My daughter is turning 18, and I wanted to buy her 18 lots of 18 presents, but I’m getting stuck.

So things like 18 x scratch cards
18 x food stuff (ie biscuits, 2 min noodles)
They need to be relatively cheap, and also useful.
Does anyone have any ideas ?
Thank you so much in advance !

I love the carrot/carat idea

Me too! 17 carrots and an 18 carat gold necklace.

Assuming youngsters wear gold nowadays? It all white gold or silver when I was a young’un.

MaskingForIt · 22/01/2021 20:26

18 pumpkin seeds to plant. Or 18 coriander/other herb seeds.

18 daffodil (or tulip) bulbs as long as she gets them in the ground quickly.

Does she have long hair? 18 scrunchies or nice hair bands?

Love the 18 books as well, that’s a great idea. Honestly I really cannot thank you enough for these ideas ! It will keep her occupied for her entire 18th year :)

Agree don’t buy 18 bits of stuff.get one thing she needs or would like

Zazz101 · 22/01/2021 21:47

Part of her neurological condition is a problem with short term memory so she looses things very easily. She has emphatically stated she doesn’t want something precious as she tends to loose things through no fault of her own, and would be devastated if she lost something valuable.

I would love 18 chocolate bars or 18 crisps etc bit of foodie

XelaM · 23/01/2021 02:40

Like a poster above suggested- 18 bank notes 💵 (depending on your budget) you can give her 18 £20 notes or 18 £10 notes

Frodont · 23/01/2021 05:40

I got dd 18 books. She was thrilled.

SarahBellam · 23/01/2021 05:53

The OP has asked for a specific type of gift. She knows her daughter better than anyone else and knows what she would like and appreciate. So while cars and Gucci bracelets might be suitable for your kids they’re not for her daughter so can we stick to the brief?

How about:

18 roses
18 mini jars of sweets
18 balloons with 18 on them
18 of her favourite recipes
18 Pot Noodles
18 stamps from around the world

Zazz101 · 23/01/2021 06:34

I love the recipe idea !! I forgot to mention she loves to cook. I could as 18 relatives for their favourite recipes and put them all in a binder !!! Thank you so much

A collage with 18 photos, 3x6pack of fizzy pop, 9 pairs of socks, 3x6pack crisps, 18 reasons why you're special / why we love you written in a notebook she can then use, 18 birthday cake candles, 18 eyeshadow in a palette, 18 post it notes with special memories written on each one.

I really like this idea... it's a little bit of fun in a lockdown world... ignore the negativity OP xxx

speakout · 23/01/2021 06:42

Ask her what she would like.

What is your budget?

AnyTimeSoon · 23/01/2021 06:47

Sounds a bit ridiculous and overkill. 18 Lots of 18? Just get her one nice gift. Or even 18 little items. But lots of them is just insane.

Catmads · 23/01/2021 06:48

18 candles
18 nail varnishes
18 travel size toiletries
18 hair accessories
18 photos from birth to now
18 of your favourite memories of her handwritten in a nice note book or maybe you could print them out in different fonts and or colours and put them collarge style into a frame.

EwwwwDavid · 23/01/2021 06:49

My mum put 10 £10 notes into 10 balloons for my daughters birthday last month. She gave her a pin and she had to pop each one to get the £10. Was bloody annoying but she loved it 😂.
You could do 18 balloons with a £1 coin in or even a sweetie or something?

sadeyedladyofthelowlands63 · 23/01/2021 08:13

As for photos, when my sister was 21 my parents gave her a photo album with a photo of her from each year of her life, with little captions they'd written. She still has it twenty years later.

Zazz101 · 23/01/2021 12:00

I also like the photo idea, especially with captions about her !
Again thank you these ideas are fantastic.
Thank you so much, this will be so memorable for her.

If you're considering socks, how about 3 boxes of Odd Socks? My teens love them.

XelaM · 23/01/2021 18:04

@EwwwwDavid Love the £10 notes in balloons idea and I will steal it for my daughter's 11th birthday that's coming up 😃

EwwwwDavid · 23/01/2021 18:20

@XelaM weirdly, it was my daughters 11th birthday too!

ScrapThatThen · 23/01/2021 18:20

I always had this idea that I would give them a photo album with a picture of them from every year of their life (and possibly their birthday cake from each year). Could work for you? 18 photos of her (those mini square Polaroid ones from photo box or elsewhere are trendy now, clipped onto a line)
