If your first 2 DC were the same gender

Was your third also the same? I have two DS and wondered what the chances of DC3 ( if we have one) being a boy or girl?

It's still a 50:50 chance - it's the sperm which determines sex, so it's 50:50 for every child, not more likely one way or the other

MumoffourinBE · 22/01/2021 12:56

I checked after our first 2 dds and apparently statistically you then have a slightly higher chance (51% IIRC) to have another of the same gender. But not in our case! We had 2 daughters and then 2 sons.

Gumps · 22/01/2021 12:56

Two boys then a girl. Tbh I thought if I had 50 they would all be boys so it was quite a shock. Mind you the last time I could get her in a dress was about 3 years ago...

I had 3 girls followed by a boy.

littlemisslozza · 22/01/2021 12:59

Third was the same sex for us.

Crikeycroc · 22/01/2021 13:01

Anecdotally, everyone I know who has had two of the same sex and then had a third has had the same saws again!

Crikeycroc · 22/01/2021 13:01

same sex*

Mammyofasuperbaby · 22/01/2021 13:02

Both my parents had 2 boys (previous relationships) and then went on to have 2 girls together. It is pretty much 50/50 but as pp said, there is a slightly higher chance of having the same again

CloseEncountersOfTheTurdKind · 22/01/2021 13:03

I have three, all the same gender

uncomfortablydumb53 · 22/01/2021 13:04

Yes, and my third was also a boy
I also had 2 miscarriages... and did wonder if I couldn't carry girls at the time

CaramelCup · 22/01/2021 13:06

3 Daughters. No miscarriages.

Thesearmsofmine · 22/01/2021 13:08

3 boys here. I also looked into it and found you are slightly more likely to have the same after having 2dc of one sex.

AmoElCafe · 22/01/2021 13:08

I had 2 girls then a boy.

TankGirl97 · 22/01/2021 13:10

We had two boys and then a girl. I was pretty surprised! Anecdotally I seem to know a lot of people who have three the same, but really it's just a toss of the coin every time. We do feel pretty lucky.

Equimum · 22/01/2021 13:10

I think you have a slightly higher chance of another the same. Most of our friend in this situation have three of the same, but saying that, I was a girl after two boys and both sets of grandparents had two of one then the other. We are currently expecting DC3 and thoroughly expect it to be the same as the other two.

WendyJames35 · 22/01/2021 13:11

Two boys, then a girl. I know lots of people with this combination!

Branleuse · 22/01/2021 13:11

I had 2 boys then a girl, but i know plenty of people who had 3 or 4 the same sex. Theres no guarantees, so if you think you might be weird about it if it was another boy then dont bother, as its the wrong reasons

jimjamjoo · 22/01/2021 13:11

Thank you. Very interesting!

Would you all recommend 3? We are really undecided at the moment. What are the pros and cons? Anything that you didn't realise until you had them?

ConfusedcomMum · 22/01/2021 13:12

The same gender as the first two.

I didn’t realise that 3 would be far harder than 2 when it came to living through a pandemic!
H1978 · 22/01/2021 13:25

All three the same gender for us.
